I heard the clip on the video and thought what a banger it was so it's a shame it's only like 30 seconds long. To be fair the rest of the track is also great but I'm just putting that clip on repeat! :)

The beat drop of Kissing Ancaps is so damn good and too goddamn short. So much raw energy in there, I want to bask in it longer. The melody chord progression also reminds me of something from quite a few years ago. Just can't put my finger on what it is, simply makes me nostalgic.

As the fall comes, and the winter threatens to set in soon, I'm listening to this album again. I come back to it every year, as the days get cooler and shorter. It just has the right feeling for this time, the early dark, the memories of people and years now only in my past. It's an album that means a lot to me.

Max > London (lil boi represent) Kissing Ancaps and Dead Inside are some of the best Eric Taxxon tracks ever. really throws me back to The Art State with a stronger sense of direction with the instrumentals. the vocals are very emotional in a different way than The Art State's distorted screams; Eric's reaching a really powerful high register in these melodies the album as a whole is extremely hit or miss for me; Film's bass sounds and general production are really grating for me and the sample on Winter was Warm is not very emotional in the same way sample-based Eric Taxxon songs usually are. (Domino, Teaching Mandolin, Winter Beats) but the at-times-random production isnt all a miss; Pack my Box has this really fucking annoying alarm clock sounding synth playing constantly, but it actually starts to form this nice harmony once the beat drops; the vocals get more and more soaring and passionate, then once that synth solo drops it eventually becomes one of the biggest bops on the entire record. instrumentals from One Pop, like in Guns (that obnoxious snare sound lol), really held me back from enjoying the songwriting; but i think Little Spoon goes a bit further to let the quirkiness settle in but man the highlights on this album shines SO fucking brightly. the only bad thing about Honest is that its not even longer. those two cello solos are THE biggest musical moment of the whole record. and i criticized the haphazard production on Film and Winter, but Monster is an incredible example of the quirky production really coming together beautifully with Eric's songwriting. it really helps that this song is catchy as fuck (free falling in love BABYYY) - something a track like Film needed, i think. oh and this guitar adds to the arrangement so much. id love to hear more guitar on Eric tracks (we heard it on Beast before) really reminds me of a New Order instrumental, with all these punchy synths and the tangy drums over it and as a side note, dont think i forgot that sax solo on Kissing Ancaps. ok i actually did and this is an edit, BUT that was fucking fantastic too the two parter piano ballad "Don't forget, I can write soft silly music too" is an obvious throwback to Real Boy from Paul from what i can see. Eric delivers my all time favorite vocal performance by him right here; it probably exceeds Chinese Banshee and Rockefella for me. and its not just because he screams just like in those songs; cause he does, but the emotions portrayed are starkly different. the songs on The Art State gives off this self aware and self deprecating, crying-out-for-help "kill me now" vibe, but the screaming in here is anthemic, potent; confident and powerful. this "So let’s have a party" refrain really speaks to me oh the lyrics. i dont have that much to say, but the stoytelling on Paul and Two Tone had me gripped more. Little Spoon manages to have much more catchier one liners though. "let’s fuck before the world ends", "or "Upturned convertibles, the wholesome people making noise", etc. and "For a song can always come in many shades and many colors maybe / I’ve made a good case for mine" is - again, coupled with the vocal performance - Eric's most potently poetic verse ever. also, all the rap verses are a godsend. i will be quoting "Turn around, let’s make art and get fucked" for the rest of my life now. Kissing Ancaps and Dead Inside still feels like an outtake from The Art State lmao, i love them so much im really conflicted over this album because the highlights are some of the GREATEST shit ive ever listened to, but then there are all these kinda-filler tracks that didnt grab me at all. (not using "filler" as a derogatory term; theyre absolutely essential to the album's pacing, i just didnt like the songs) i think im giving it an 8/10 for now but i can EASILY see myself growing on the other tracks and appreciating the structure; thats what happened with other Eric albums that didnt grab me at first such as Sky Simplified and One Pop

I have to say, i am in love and terrified of your music at the same time, its such a deep hidden emotions that reveal with all honestly that make me enjoy it so much but at the same time make me so terrfied that in any momment gonna confront me, grab a deep ugly and sad emotion in my soul and mirror it back to me, meanwhile screams "this is you" on my face, and left me in a puddle of tears for the next few hours. Needless to say, had learn to stop listening to it on public places, and still, wanna thank you for being one of the few musicians who had made me experience emotions once again.

This is my favorite =3 episode.

the piano riff for Dead Inside makes me wag my tail so hard 💖💖

i've been listening to kissing ancaps and dead inside so much the last two days, such lovely tracks. Entire album is great but those are my stand outs while Don't forget I can write soft silly music too has some of the greatest lylical mix with the pianos

It's starting to get cold and dark here once again. Winter is fast approaching and i'm very excited to snuggle up in my room while listening to this album again. This album made me appreciate winter. It's intimate, like when you and your loved one are snuggling underneath a warm blanket together. Nothing else matters, just the warmth of their presence and the hope that the two of you will make it out of this together. The present is frozen, so spend it with your future.

I feel like nobody is talking about how good "Honest" is. It's all just "kissing ancaps" this and "Dead inside" that, when these songs are all but mediocre in comparison to the emotional and beautiful masterpiece that is "Honest." From the emotional lyrics to the, beautiful cello, it's my favorite by a long shot.

The =3 samples on the opener caught me off guard, but I fell deeper in love with this album with each song.

i cant tell if this is a complement or an insult it could be seen both ways like lemonade without the sugar is pretty much just lemon juice which is sour and acidic but if you look at it the other way it can be seen like how some people enjoy the sourness or some people like the acidity and the light lemon flavor flavor that is in the back of the sourness so my deciphering of this comment in the end is youre trying to say that that the music is good but just not for everyone
