Patria: Squad leader explains crew and weapons
In this video a Croatian squad leader explains the duties of the crew of the AMV (Armored Modular Vehicle) PATRIA. The vehicle is manufactured by the Finnish company PATRIA. In addition to the crew, the viewer gets to know the Zastava M72AB1 machine gun, the Croatian-made VHS assault rifle (HS Product) and the PATRIA weapon station with the 12.7 mm heavy machine gun (Browning M2). The video was shot in Rukla / Lithuania at the beginning of March 2023 at the eFP Battle Group.

Sehr gutes Video. Die Handhabung der kompletten Visiereinrichtung(Laser usw)für den MG-Schützen empfinde ich als sehr umständlich wenn es klar zum Gefecht heißt. Weiter so.

Ja, beim Rundgang hätte das Stativ als Gimble an der Kamera verbleiben sollen. Dann wäre das Bild ruhiger gewesen.

While you are here will the cro army adopt a DMR in .308 or any other calibre or is that not part of our doctrine? Do we already have one?
1:46 It is interesting to see a Serbian-made gun which is based on the AK-47 being employed in the army of a NATO member State. Is this kind of light machine gun still bought by the Croatian army or is it just a legacy firearm? How is ammunition procured?

It isnt really a serbian gun, its a legacy from Yugoslavia, which Croatia was also a part of, its also the reason why all the former yugoslavian states use the M-84 tanks

There are atill a on of users of 7.62*39mm and 5,45*39mm in NATO- basically most former Warsaw Pact members in NATo with the exception of Baltics still either use or manufacture these guns and ammo- Romaia,Bulgaria,Poland Czech,Albania,Macedonia etc Most of these Armed forces are now transiting away to NATO calibre but there is still a ton out there plus bc of Ukraine war and the demand of US civilian market it is also still being manufactured

Legacy. For some reason we have't procured machine guns that are in line with NATO doctrine yet. My guess is that they just haven't gotten around to it yet. We only just adopted 5.56.

"Bis 400m" ist aber sehr sehr kurz für MG-Schützen... Da fangen unsere (laut meinem Training damals) erst zu feuern an. Also eher ein schweres Sturmgewehr.

M72, RPK etc. sind Maschinengewehre die zwar Kaliber 7.62 feuern aber trotzdem als LMG und damit als Einmannwaffen konzipiert sind. Nicht zu vergleichen mit GPMG Truppwaffen wie MG3, FN MAG (M240) oder MG5. Die sind viel schwerer mit mehr Material um Hitze abzuleiten, mit Wechselrohren um andauerndes, akkurates Deckungsfeuer zu geben. Im Trupp hat man auch viel mehr Munition mit.

I like the idea of 2 SAW machine gunners but it only makes sense if they share the same calibre as the riflemen which they dont. Are there any plans to get machine guns more in line with NATO standards?

Yes. Croatian Army will soon be equipped with Minimi 7.62 Mk3 i Minimi 5.56 Mk3. FN Herstal will do this in partnership with HS Produkt. Replacement of CZ M-72 was long overdue. They should not be issued for NATO missions in the first place.

Obavezno, uvjet, pogotovo tecno za inozemne NATO misije. Zamisli borbenu situaciju gdje pola internacionalne ekipe nema pojma sto im zapovjednistvo/potpora/etc prica 😅

Ist die Bundeswehr an diesem Schützenpanzer interessiert ? Man braucht doch einen Ersatz für den Fuchs. Ich denke damit bekommt man einen wirklich guten Ersatz. und er ist sogar schwimmfähig wenn ich nicht falsch liege.

@@jonny2954 Soweit ich mitbekommen habe wäre die Modernisierung wohl zu teuer als eine Neuanschaffung . Man legt wohl Wert auf die Schwimmfähigkeit Kenne den Fuchs noch aus meiner Bundeswehrzeit von 1983-84 da kam er neu in die Truppe. Wenn ich bedenke ist das auch schon 40 Jahre her.
