These guys are awesome live. Fun fact the lead singer used to be the drummer but couldnt keep a lead singer so learned how to sing and save the band.

I'm from SATX and I remember watching these guys play local shows with Johnny on drums and a diff vocalist when we were all in highschool. Crazy how far they went. This entire album is a 10/10 and so is the one after

I'm not sure what their intentions were with the lyrics of this song, but if you view it through the lens of Democrats and Republicans in the United States, the lyrics make a lot of sense. Republican or Democrat, we are one people, and the establishment consistently has us at each other's throats bickering between one another to keep us from looking at the real enemy: Them. Keep the veil over our eyes. The illusion of choice. Divide us and inflame conflict among us so we can't stand strong against them. Think about it: When did we become these sinking stones? When did we build this broken home? (The United States is the broken home) Holding each other like ransom notes Dropping our hearts to grip our brother's throat (Repubs and Democrats, countrymen that now view each other as enemies) You can't see because you don't know (That this conflict is in the interest and at the direction of others, not us) You're caught below, beneath your own shadow Stuck inside, half alive (Stuck inside your social tribe, where it's only ok to feel, not to think. A person who only feels and can't rationalize is half a person.) Do you ever stop to ask yourself why? (Have you ever asked who truly benefits from this conflict?) Close your mind, identify (They tell you to close your mind to the other side, and enter identity politics) Do you feel, do you feel? (Feel offended by the opinions of the other side. Don't think rationally.) Do you call this a life? (Is this really how a "free" people would choose to live their life?) All you waited for Drowning just to keep score (We all lose due to the tribal conflict. The only winners are the establishment that holds on to power above us all.) We always start with good intentions (Both sides, by and large intend well with their positions. Both sides think they're the good guys.) But lose ourselves along the way (We lose our ability to think critically and rationalize, instead adopting the identity politics.) This is the time that we let it go (We need to let go the indoctrination and engage with one another with open minds, and open hearts.) These are the words that will take us home (This is the only path to healing our nation) Singing the song that's inside us all (Which, ultimately, we all want.)
