I had my 360° Fundoplication procedure some 6 years ago and from a GERD aspect it has proved generally successful. However, it seems to have become tighter during the 18 months or so. Following Manometry and PH tests, I also had a Barium Swallow test, which showed up a restriction at the junction of the oesophagus and stomach, the consequence of which, is that I cannot belch; meaning that all the air I swallow whilst eating passes through into my small intestine with painful effect. My Consultant checked the video from the swallow test and has decided to admit me to hospital in order to partially unwrap the previous Fundoplication and therefore relieve the tightness, in order to allow any swallowed air to be belched in the normal manner. I'm currently taking a h2-receptor antagonist - Famotidine, long term for Barretts Syndrome so any reflux should be controlled by that rather than a PPI such as Omeprazole.

Very normal when you are recovering remember you are swollen very bad, i got my 2 years ago funduplication 180° haital hernia repair and diagnose with Barrett esophagus, just today 07/21/23 i had a uper endoscopy cuz for 1 month i was coughing bad with out feeling acid reflex or regurgitate, unfortunately for me its either a fail hernia or the method wasn't the correctly for my case, the GI doctor told me that i have reflex recurrence, i dont feel but they see with the tiny camera some damage in the esophagus, thats after 2 years like i mention so for you is a process of 6 months to 1 year for you to feeling like normal, its a 50-50 risk that we take with the surgery also the hernia and recovering go slow dont try to hurry with food or lifting weights thats pretty bad.
