TIF and hiatal hernia surgery (1 year post surgery - diet specific)

In this video I most specifically discussed diet and what the diet was like initially post surgery & during the recovery period as well as one year later.

    I am glad your surgery went well because mine did not. My hernia and TIFF put me in the ICU for 3 days hooked up to life support. Collapsed lung, 6cm rip in my esophophaus that had to be surgically stabalized, could not be repaired had to heal on it's own. Had to have a feeding tube put in and could not have anthing by mouth not even an ice chip for months until the hole in my esphagus closed on it's own. I was unable to find a lawyer to sue for all the paiin and discomfort I had after this was done. My life has become a living nightmare my bowels and abdominal issues have gone out of sight now and I can't eat hardly anything my chest and throat hurt from the scaring from the rip in the esophagus and the surgery. I am a bitter person as you can tell. And I still have GERD

    Hey as you mentioned your parasympathic nervous system get ramped up... Is that happened after endoscopic procedure? And how does doctor deals with it? I'm suffering with heart palpitations for almost a year... And previously a year back ago I also undergone hiatus hernia repair. Please let us know what kind of doctors deals with parasympathic nervous system and what kind of medication you got prescribed for those 2days!

    I mentioned in one video but I'm not sure which. Pain was fine. I didn't even take pain meds, just Tylenol. It was for me not the issue. Far more a problem was the liquid diet. That was just awful at the end. May vary by person of course but I didn't have much pain at all. I was sore, yes, but the pain was low.

    Hello sir, I had my surgery 7 weeks ago, and recently I had an infection near the wrapped area. The doctor said I could continue with solid foods after 3 weeks, and I think that was the reason I had such an infection. However, after following medical treatment, I was recovered. But my problem is that I am facing gastrities and unappetizing foods again, like I was before. Did you face the same problems in the first few weeks after the surgery?

    It’s been recommended that I have the surgery like Frank had, however I’m going to decline after seeing the misery that he’s endured and his nervous system sounds like a post surgery occurrence, sounds like something new that Frank didn’t have before. I’m relativly healthy other than acid reflux which can be managed with antacids and moderately watching what and how much I eat. Frank you don’t look very healthy after one year out, you looked much healthier before. Thanks for letting us hear how it went and I hope e you totally recover. What is the parasympathetic nervous system? Your parasympathetic nervous system is part of your autonomic nervous system. It could be called your “automatic” nervous system, as it’s responsible for many functions that you don’t have to think about to control. This can include control of your heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, urination and sweating, among other functions. The only way your Parasympathetic nervous system could have been damaged is through trauma such as a severe blunt accident, however, since this followed your surgery then it’s safe to say they cut some of the nerves that control this automatic nervous system, doubtful that it will recover especially if the nerves were severed. you might consider a law suit.

    Thanks for the compliment...😕 or not. Not sure if you just want a response, or what you are after, but careful about what you say about what I look like and that 'I don't look healthy'. Maybe you were not after attacking what I look like but just know that I won't deal with nonsense or trolls and can make comments go away with the snap of a finger. I am not making videos to be judged on what I look like. I do it to try to help people understand what my journey was like and what I went through so they are aware what they might expect if they do it. Maybe it helps, maybe it does not, and maybe, like you, they decide not to go through the surgery, but all i am after is trying to help and share some of the things I went through. After I was cleared from restrictions. I started to be able to eat normally again and lift weights and exercise. I had lost about 15-20 lbs due to the surgery and diet restrictions but slowly and safely, I put the weight back on and added 5-10 lbs of muscle mass. So while you might think I dont look healthy, please keep the negativity about my body to yourself. I could show you what truly look like after putting the weight and muscle back on but I dont need to. I dont exercise for anyone to see what I look like with my shirt off. I do it for me. Looking unhealthy was hard for me mentally and physically and if someone attacks how I look, I am going to take exception. I dont need or want to hear that. If someone expects not to lose weight or look 'sickly' after this surgery, I would say they are fooling themselves. Weight loss is just going to happen, unless your doc does not give you such stringent diet restrictions. Even then, weight loss is just going to happen imo. Watch more of my recent videos to see how i am doing now. 2 year update - kzread.info/dash/bejne/a3eY2s2Em5W3h5M.html 900+ day update - kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWSW26WDkpnMc7Q.html I'd say I am MORE than recovered at this point. As I believe i mention in some videos, I feel very normal at this point. I am not stupid, so i don't go and drink jalapeno juice but when I indulge in something spicy in excess, I am just asking for it, which any human on this planet would have to deal with and is very normal. Beyond that, I am very normal and feel better now than I did before surgery and before the reflux issues became unbearable. Even when reflux was just more manageable (10+ years ago), I was taking more antacids (Zantac, Tums, etc.). I dont ever take these any more as I just don't need to. I'd go through the surgery again and again if i had too. Sure, the diet and exercise stuff was hard and yes, I had some complications, but I was able to get through it with time and with the surgery and medication I was prescribed, I have felt more normal than I have in many years.

    @@frank_umm Frank I’m very sorry I wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt your feelings, you are overall a very handsome man IMHO. I was actually very concerned about the issue with your parasympathetic nervous system, which controls the body automatic regulations, such as digestion, bowel movements etc. sounds like they may have cut or damaged some of those nerves. However I’m just speculating as in the videos I watched you declined further comment on that topic, which is a huge reason for me to consider the risks to benefit in my situation. I’m very happy to hear that you are doing well at this time, I haven’t watched all your videos just some of the first ones and then one year out so I’m sure I missed lots of information. Thank you and again I meant no disrespect and apologize because my words obviously made you feel bad, you are a handsome man, thanks for sharing with people like myself who are considering this surgery. And for the record I didn’t insinuate that you were unattractive but rather that you looked less healthy in the one year out video than you did at the time of surgery, i was talking about healthy as opposed to beauty… you may have simply misunderstood that.

    @@frank_umm Thanks for asking that because it's my question as well. I'm considering TIF but wondering what is the failure rate of the device once a patient returns to normal exercise routine. Mine is quite intense and I'm worried that if I go through the TIF procedure and endure all the post Op dietary restrictions that the TIF device will fail once I start doing deadlifts, squats and rowing. Not sure what to do.

  • @frank_umm

    @frank_umm

    @@Long_Machine Well...cannot tell you for sure but i understand the concern. I know that I'd be very careful and ask my doc if i was going to lift too heavy. I have not gone too heavy since hernia or after surgery but i have done some pretty intense workouts and not had a problem. I would gather the longer out from surgery, the more safe you'd be but again, i'm not a doc so don't know and cannot say. I miss doing some of the heavier stuff i used to do pre-hernia but my body is getting older and its probably not a good idea for me to do that stuff anyway. my advice, if you do have surgery and lift thereafter, of course, follow docs orders, restrictions, etc., and give it time and go slow. You might have restrictions lifted at a point, but caution is always a good approach.

    @@franhar8292 will do. yeah I am really nervous about this hiatus hernia I was diagnosed with earlier this year. This year has been shit, what with all the LPR/GERD symptoms. I have only a 1cm hernia and the GI doctor does not believe the hernia is causing my LPR-like symptoms. He seemed to dismiss LPR as a legit diagnosis. We'll see what the ENT scope reveals. I am really sick of battling the doctors. Both GI doctors have been unimpressive. Hell, the GI doctor who performed my Bravo pH test told me "the TIF procedure is not ready for primetime". Then, I take to YT and find many many videos of people who have underwent the procedure. WTF! I'm really unsure what to do at this point because I certainly don't want to end up with Barrett's esophagus or worse, cancer. if I only have a 1cm hernia, I can't imagine living with a 3-4cm hiatus hernia. I haven't really done any heavy weightlifting since the diagnosis. I do row however, so I hope that doesn't make it worse, because isn't rowing essentially a deadlift? not sure. I'm tempted to try the hiatus release technique if I can find a local chiropractor who is competent with the maneuver. Will definitely report back with anything I learn that will help the community.

That for me, worked VERY well and I would be very nervous to stop taking it. I might try at some point to see how I do but I feel so normal and remember very well what the GERD symptoms felt like and I would hate to go back. If all it takes is a little pill that keeps my nervous system calm, I guess my thought is, why not.
