Back in 2001 I had the opportunity (after some negotiations) to buy a pre-owned 3711 in good condition for 12K€ in a WEMPE boutique in Hamburg. But as a first year student to become a watchmaker with a pregnant girlfriend at home it just didn't make sense. (Note to younger me; Watches should be your forever and only true love)

@@mr.personal-ityOnce a WOSTEP watchmaker always a watchmaker I guess but no not a practicing one since 2014. I was slightly above average at it. Some of my study buddies were much better and hold key positions in the atelier at Omega and G&F today.

I see your point! The 2nd hand watch market (which I don’t do) is in a massive bubble. I am currently on a 10 year wait list for this piece with date only with my AD. That’s not going to happen lol. I saw my 2021 blue dial AP CHRONO 41mm is on Chrono24 for over gbp 85k. That piece new from my AD IS gbp26k. I don’t sell any of my pieces as I am more interested in the timepiece. I saw three ss Pepsis on jubilee bracelets which I own too going forward approx. gbp 26k. That’s gbp7550 I paid for it. I could go on but that would be boring lol.

I do love that watch Mr. Mosso! Even with my relatively large collection this watch is way out of reach for me. Great review as always!

I think the world has been de-sensitized to watch prices lol. 5711s going for over 200k and the market is accepting it. Crazy stuff

“This is for the collector…” that right there explains everything. We live in a culture where you just can’t buy a watch.

Well at least the home I own and the other one I'm buying are worth more than the 5712 and 5711 put together. I might just sell them both, buy a Greubel Forsey and live under a bridge. I'd be a happy man.
