Hello Saints! My name is Jeff McCullough and I'm a Christian Pastor.
This channel is devoted to fighting criticism with curiosity as I invite dialogue between mainstream Christians and Latter-day Saints. Are Mormons Christians? What do Evangelicals and Latter-day Saints agree and disagree about? Join me as I compare and contrast the lifestyle, culture and beliefs of Mormons and non-LDS Christians.

Hey Jeff, I’m not from Utah (I’m in Canada), but I have 3 siblings in Utah and we love our time there. If ever we were to move to the US, it would be one of my top picks. For videos, I’ve really liked the ones where you have collaborated with other people like Greg Matsen (CWIC show), Jacob Hansen (Thoughtful Faith), and other LDS KZread personalities. Also looking forward to your continuous study and comments of the Book of Mormon.

Welcome to the Mountain West! I think it would be wonderful to watch you discover what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has to offer by way of Family History/Genealogy Resources. Visit the library in downtown Salt Lake and maybe check out some of the resources available at BYU. Perhaps attend RootsTech next spring. Discover some things about your own family history. I guarantee that would be an amazing experience.
This is actually how we as latter day saints follow the lord. We pray, we listen, and do as he commands, and sooner or later, he will lead you to where you need to be. That is how we ended up in Texas and staying here. There is always a path to lead and guide you. Thank you for sharing your own testimony in a way.

June 1 brought a new landlord and three times the rent was going to be required, two months later, tired, bruised, sore and some bad backs we ended up with a daughter and son in law, no hope at this point for a place to live, housing os out of sight for a small income. But, God never left us, he packed at night or sent angels, I think because our age is "older". Two storage sheds, a garage and what little we could keep with us that was needed, we are beginning to see the light. No housing but lots of love and always eternal hope.
I am so grateful for you and ‘Hello Saints’. You’ve challenged me to study my scriptures more and learn more about my own faith (yes I am LDS). We all respect you and as a brother in Christ, we love you Pastor Jeff! What an exciting and new adventure for you and your family! Any community you and your family settle in, is lucky to have you. We learn from your faith in the Savior and what you learn in your journey. Thank you for being you!

@@agirlgirl2244 Every time I meet with LDS missionaries or even speak with Mormons, they bear their testimony which essentially means they are telling me my church is wrong. Should I be offended and not speak with them?? We can get along and still have different beliefs.
I grew up LDS, served a mission, and started raising children in the church. I loved the church, and in many ways, still do. The members are incredible, and some of the most service minded loving people you will meet. Leaving the church at the age of 31 was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my adult life. More than just a choice, it has been a journey with ups and down, triumphs and defeats, joys and sorrows. I'm experiencing what feels like the death of prominent figures that were pivotal to the development of my faith. I'm having to revisit gospel principles and doctrines, line upon line, precept upon precept, with a Christ first focus rather then a church first foundation. There's so many dynamics that has made this journey difficult, but incredible, and my relationship with God has never been stronger. Your gentle and curious approach to learning about the LDS faith and balancing what you are learning of the church with what you know and believe to be true has helped me walk this journey more confidently.

Perhaps pastor Jeff can help you leave this false belief system that you are in. Hopefully so……because Mormons are hell bound . That’s why most of us engage with them. Because this matters to us. We don’t want you there. Joseph’s myth has already landed him and all that followed him there now. I bet if Joseph’s myth had another chance he wouldn’t have started this blasphemous nonsense.

It's good to see that Pastor Jeff is welcome in Utah, the headquarters of the Church. That he will be well-treated by the members. I wish I had had that experience when I visited some cities in Utah for a few months. I'm Brazilian, I speak English, and my experience makes me not want to go back to Utah! I had such high expectations, thinking I was in the 'holy land,' that my experience would be something close to heavenly. I believe my biggest mistake was assuming I would find welcoming people like in Brazil, but that didn't happen! My experience in California, Pennsylvania, and New York was very different from what I experienced in Utah. In a global church like ours, we can't have members who live in a bubble, especially in a place with the highest number of returned missionaries!

I’m so grateful for my testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I gained a testimony if it many years ago as a small child. I felt the burning in my heart when I first read The Book of Mormon. This is where I learned of the nature of Christ and of his prophets. It is how I came to understand that we have a living prophet today. I noticed that when I followed the admonitions in the Book of Mormon my life was filled with enlightenment and understanding and I had a a strong desire to treat others with love and kindness. It made me want to get on my knees and pray regularly. It made me want to repent daily. This testimony came to me so strongly that I was able to share this with others who also read the Book of Mormon and gained this same witness. I have noticed it is only those who closed their hearts to sincerely praying about The Book of Mormons truthfulness who seem to deny it’s powerful divine message and it’s complimentary association with that if the Bible. Both are true. If you believe the Bible than you will become excited about and believe The Book of Mormon. My hope is you are as sincere as you profess to be.

@@fred-62 That is not denying the Holy Ghost BY DEFINITION. Clearly you dont know what you're talking about. Denying the Holy Spirit requires greater knowledge and testimony. That sin is reserved for people who sin against the light. Speaking of the Apostles! They work with different denominations regularly and strengthen those ties. So what you're saying is rooted in your own arrogance not doctrine or teachings. Are you better than them? That is all projection. You have no way of knowing what his intentions are. And his actions speak to the contrary. I've watched his videos and it never made me flounder in my faith. What are you afraid of? Finding common ground? Being allies in love for God? And of cours if someone has faith in their beliefs they'd want to share them. Isnt that what missionaries do? Or is that only reserved for us and when anyone else does it they're just a wolf in sheeps clothing? Priestcraft =/= being of a different faith. Again projectin. Hello Pastor. My name is Wiremu (Pronounced We-reh-moo) Bayliss and I moved to southern Utah from New Zealand a few short months ago. This has been a part of a transitional journey for our family that has extended beyond four years. It has been highly frustrating. Something you said in this particular video about the fog obstructing the view and how it is an analogy to troubles along our journey. I have been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life. But being here, has been a different experience for me. Challenging, emotionally and mentally, yet I have had the love of family near and far, and feel that a part of my cultural up-bringing in New Zealand, I know I feel the spirits of my ancestors around me when I need them. For what it is worth, I welcome you, my fellow Christian, my fellow citizen with the Saints. I hope that you may get to come down to the open house for the St George Utah Temple and perhaps we can have the chance to meet up.
Thank you for sharing this hard experience and your faith through it. This past month the Latter-day Saint church (my church) had a huge young single adult conference. The theme was " Together in Christ" they started the events off with a concert that had Jordin Sparks, Jordan Smith, and One Republic. They shared testimonies and Jordan Smith even learned one of our Primary songs for us all to sing together. They had a dance and a 5k for the next activities. (I was out of town for those) then they had an all day event at the Salt Palace Convention Center. There was games, speed dating, music, workshops, and speakers. I felt the Spirit so strong. The last event was last week a devotional given by Elder Christofferson. All of this has helped me see the power and strength we have when we all (no matter our background) come together in Christ. Thank You Paster Jeff for sharing your journey and being a part in mine! ❤
Welcome! I hope you get settled and feel peaceful about being here! Proverbs 3:5-6. Keep shining! ❤

Best of luck in your journey, wherever it takes you!!! Something that I noticed that Pastor Jeff said is that he prayed. That's something that is really important to us as well. Include God in your big decisions! He will guide you. That may look like you moving forward in faith without a clear path, but it being made possible for you. 1 Nephi 3:7 says ..."I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for O know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save He shall prepare a way for them to accomplish the thing which he commanded them". I really love that verse, and I also love Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". They go hand in hand! As we trust in the Lord and do what He asks and directs and prompts, He will create a way for it to happen. But effort is required!! There is a quote by President Russell M. Nelson: "The Lord loves effort". When we put effort in, we are blessed! I hope that is helpful 😊 best of luck in all to come! God loves you and is there to help and guide you. Often times He uses other people to do so, so maybe the answer to your prayers will come from another person. We are His hands! You've got this!!! I appreciate you. Have a wonderful day

@@ashlyncrane8992 This is so sweet & kind of you! Thank you for your words of encouragement & for sharing some snippets of your faith tradition. I loved reading all of it! Major life decisions often are where the rubber meets the road in terms of our application of Scripture and our trust in God's provision. Prayer truly is a great gauge on how much one trusts/relies upon God, as well as helping to build it. Philippians is such a wonderful letter to apply to all of life's contexts, with its themes of joy in all circumstances, as well as the emphasis of verses 4:11-13 (as you mentioned) on learning to be content in all situations. So much rich stuff! There's a beauty in knowing that God is in control, & not only that, but that He has a specific purpose that He will accomplish. For the true believer in Christ, that specific purpose is to bring them back home with Him, transforming them into conformity with the Savior (Philippians 3:20-21). As Paul writes, he is confident that "He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). What a wonderful truth to always be at the forefront of the believer's decision-making in life! How much more so must I lean on this peace of mind that comes from God

@@agirlgirl2244Nah, don’t think so 🙂 he may be genuine, but I know lots of LDS folks like him who are also the real deal, the real goal 😊 one example, the prophet himself, President Nelson. Pastor Jeff is good, but he’s just exploring the fullness of the Gospel found in the LDS church. Can’t wait to see when he finally realizes it!
I'm so grateful you recorded this and shared it with us❤
So happy you are here! I love your videos and the perspective it gives me. I love learning about your beliefs and how you do it in such a loving kind way. I also love how loving and kind you are about learning the Latter-day Saints beliefs even when you don't agree with them. Thanks for all you do and the spirit you bring to your videos!
Your family is so adorable! Welcome to Utah, brother!
I live in Southwest Idaho. We just formed a new Stake here, last night and today we hade our very first Stake conference. Turns out my Stake President is good friends with a evangelical pastor. First thing right of the bat he asked this pastor and his awesome wife to get up and say a few words. ( They had no Idea they were going to speak).lol. The reason for this was last year we ended the winter season in a extreme drought. Well this is farm country, we were going to have to cut our allotments in half. My Stake president asked the pastor to ask all of his church’s in the Idaho area along with The LDS churches to fast a pray for rain enough to refill our reservoirs. So we all began to fast and pray as Christian’s. We filled our reservoirs. The pastor touch on one thing that I believe to be the most important. That we look for what we have in common more than what we don’t. I believe if we do that will all find we have Jesus Christ in common and that is all that matters. The thing is, in the times we are about to start to live in we’re going to need all christens to stand united. This will be the most powerful force on earth. God bless you sir. I miss my Utah. You’ll love it. But like I said we are also going to need you and your church.
Welcome to Utah, Jeff and family🤗! I'm a Latter Day Saint and have so enjoyed and appreciated your fresh, open dialogue in Hello Saints. It has helped me to understand more about what our great Evangelical/Protestant neighbors believe. Thank you for your example of faith and moving forward on your journey to Utah, not knowing the rest of your story. Again, welcome! Our state just got one family better.
Hey pastor, I haven’t followed the journey too close, but I’m glad that you’ve bridged that gap between religions. It’s awesome to see that you’ve taken this interest in learning more about our faith. Welcome to Utah! I love it here and I hope you enjoy your new chapter here!
Powerful message of faith. Love the distinction that faith is not just about being positive, but on total dependence upon the Lord. Reminds me of the Israelites wandering the wilderness having to rely on mana from heaven to survive each new day. Complete dependence. Thank you Pastor Jeff.

Pastor Jeff, hello! I am a Latter-Day Saint (not from Utah) and I just discovered your videos. Thank you Jeff!! I really needed to watch this today. My journey continues in “truth and love”. 🙏🏻💙🙏🏻
Such a similar story to so many of our brave and faithful pioneer ancestors who also took a leap in faith to move to Utah. God Bless You and your family my friend.
Congrats on your move! I hope your life in Utah is fulfilling and a blessing to you and your family. I hope that you all have many wonderful experiences with Evangelicals and Latter-day Saints alike in your new home and life. May God bless you!!!
Jeff, I love what you are doing! We know how hard and scary it is trusting God when things don’t always look positive or can’t see exactly God’s plan. Over the past year we have stepped out in faith trusting Him in multiple situations even when we couldn’t see how everything would work out. As hard as it has been it has been so good for our family. Jeff you are an amazing encouragement and today I am praying for you and your beautiful family. Thanks for sharing! -Jared
Welcome, Pastor Jeff and your beautiful family!! This video was so touching to me and my Latter Day Saint beliefs, in the way that through faith we come closer to Christ. I hope your journey continues to prosper your life. God bless.
The experience you described about getting here to Utah reinvigorates me to persevere in faith in my own trials, so thank you for all you shared. The overcast skies and reduced visibility from Ensign Peak are a powerful visual lesson. Welcome to Utah! I hope you and your family will encounter love and community and be happy here. I’m certain your friends in Missouri are feeling the loss of you and yours leaving. I’d love to see you share a video of your evangelical community here and what Sunday worship entails for you. Wishing you and your family the best in your new home!
I didn’t see that coming. Welcome to Utah! I hope it ends up being an awesome experience for you and your family.
Welcome to Utah! It’s a beautiful place to live. Thank you for the rain/fog/faith analogy and your testimony of faith in waiting for the Lord to guide us. When you commented about watching as you learn about us (Latter-day saints), you need to know for sure that I have learned from you about evangelicals and it’s been a very interesting journey. Thank you. May God bless you and your family as you settle in your new home. I can’t wait to see where we’re all headed next.
Glad to hear that your move worked out in the end. I love your message about the importance of keeping our faith in God through all our trials and sorrows, using the example of the view from Ensign Peak on a foggy, rainy day. Hope all goes well for you and your family in Utah! Love what you are doing :)

We’ll miss ya here in STL! Stumbled upon your channel a few months ago and have been really blessed by your ministry. Praying for you and your calling to serve.
Welcome to Utah Pastor Jeff! We're happy to have you here! I love what you're doing - we need more like you! You're comments about 9:20 in reminded me of an experience I had almost 30 years ago, serving a mission in Northeastern France, and realizing that the sun was still shining up there, above the clouds - I just couldn't see it then, but I knew it was up there (there can be weeks on end with full overcast there - I remember feeling that gloom, but trusting in a similar way, that God saw me, and I could trust in him).
Welcome to Utah! I have a moving story similar to yours and, like you, I did a lot of praying and trying to remember that the Lord would get me where I needed to be, and as luck would have it, I landed here in Utah. He never fails!! I'm so glad things came together for you and your family, and again, welcome!
I really am happy for you! And I appreciate you sharing you and your family's journey in faith😊
Welcome to Utah! We are thrilled to have you and your beautiful family here with all of us!
I needed this reminder of faith 💚Thank you, Pastor Jeff. And welcome to Utah! I hope our paths cross soon🙏💛
As I was listening to your account of how everything fell apart with the house in Utah and you were considering that maybe you shouldn't go, I was thinking, Pastor Jeff, you need to do what Nephi did: "And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do." And that's exactly what you did. The Lord loves it when we trust him and act in faith. I think this move is really a courageous thing for you to do. Congratulations on this new chapter in your and your family's life!
Thanks for sharing your families journey with us Pastor Jeff! You are a wonderful example of what and who a Christian should be and an awesome bridge between Both faiths. Lived in Utah for 10 years, and it’s a place of faith and family.
We are so happy to have you and your family here in Utah! Welcome!
I loved your thoughts. Faith really isn't about "staying positive." It's about believing that God knows you and wants what is best for you, and that if you put your trust in Him, it will be well for you in the end. In the meantime, yes, we might struggle and might fail to stay positive, but that is not the same as losing faith. I love the quote C. S. Lewis wrote in The Screwtape Letters when the senior tempter Screwtape writes, "Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy's will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys." The trials of life may beat some of the zeal out of us at times, but if our trust in the Lord still leads us to follow Him, He'll help us come out the other side.
I loved this video! As a person who is currently trying to put my faith in God with everything I do this was what I needed to hear.
Awesome video , thank you for speaking to stepping out in faith, even when it’s cloudy and you can’t see your way! I am on a journey with the same elements. God bless your journey Jeff.
A warm welcome to you and your family. You all will be a great blessing to us all, LDS or Evangelical. May Heavenly Father continue to bless and keep you.
How exciting!! I hope to bump into you sometime. Welcome welcome, Pastor Jeff. ❤

Yes, that journey of faith is trying and beautiful. We have spent the last 10 years in the Kirtland area. It's been amazing and I had hoped we could be part of hosting you when you made it here to explore the huge amount of latter-day saint history that occurred in this area. Now, suddenly, we are moving back to Oklahoma. I know that the Lord is leading us and there are great things to come. It's a life-long lesson that we keep re-experiencing: faith is work. Faith isn't trying harder, it's trying higher^. When the 4 men brought the man who was paralyzed to Jesus, they didn't fight through the crowd, they simply went up where no one else was and lowered the man to Jesus, trusting Jesus would heal him. Got this from pastor Stephens sermon from Elevation Church today called 'Try Higher'. And also we need other believers to lean on as well I've learned today with my situation, God bless!
So excited to watch your journey! I've loved watching... And would've loved to be your Realtor just to get to know you! Thank you for all you do to spread love and joy and peace

It's been such a beautiful journey and I know yours will be among the Utah Saints. I pray that the Saints will learn from you just as much as you learn from them and that the Christian community can come together as the body of Christ we are. Enjoy those soda shops!!
Pastor Jeff, I didn't grow up in a church. I received Christ at age 21. I am from Idaho. I moved to the Midwest as a teen with my family. MANY of my extended family converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after my grandparents died. We had a family reunion last year in the town of our family farm, where most of my aunts and uncles grew up. It was my first home. I love my family! I feel many had trouble trusting us, because I have always openly shared of my faith in Christ. I FIRMLY believe what you shared, curiosity and sharing God's Word in truth & love are the only way to develop sincere relationships. I do not want to disrespect or condemn my loved ones, but I did do that in the past. I know they fear for my eternity, as I likewise, fear for theirs. Your channel is teaching me how to share my faith with family in a loving and respectful manner. I hope to cultivate a loving bond with extended family members I love. God Bless You & your beautiful family. I prayed for an evangelical teacher bridge the gap! I pray for you & your wife and children to thrive in Salt Lake, as you build genuine connection with LDS folks. Thank you for all you are doing! I look forward to seeing your beautiful wife in lots of future videos.

Welcome to Utah. Happy to have you and your family. I learn so much from you
We were in Utah last week from Thursday to Sunday. We went to the Conference Center on Saturday and after that dinner with my wife's cousin. Her husband kept telling us to go to the "This is thecaplace Monument," but as we left the restaurant, it was pouring rain and our family was really tired from all the activities the days before. It was raining off and on Sunday on the way home, too, through Nevada. We live in California.
Thank you for sharing! And welcome to Utah!!! Your journey here reminded me of the saints who left their homes and moved forward with faith. They came here with no idea how it was all going to work out but knew God was still there.
Welcome to Utah! It will be so fun to find you and your family around here.
I think "Lead, Kindly Light" is a hymn all Christians enjoy. I love the 1st verse "I do not need to see the distant shore, one step enough for me". That's where you, and your family, have been recently. I love your trust in our Lord to just keep going. I also thought of Peter walking on water. His faith was enough as long as he kept his on Christ. You and your family have done that. Enjoy Utah; it's the top of the mountains.
