Pastime Paradise - Stevie Wonder & Ed Sheeran -10/14/15

Музыка

Stevie Wonder & Ed Sheeran at The Rock / Prudential Center, Newark, NJ - performing Pastime Paradise from Stevie 's album Songs In The Key of Life.
Forgive the shakiness of the video. Using a small Canon ELPH340HS for the first time at a show in a crowd. Sound very good live. Capture on camera allowed over modulation, no input volume adjustment.

Most singers start to lose their voices when they start getting older. Stevie was 65 in this video and he's still belting out those notes like he's in his 20s.

I like the irony. the song talks about how people are stuck in the past and Ed and Stevie cover a song from their childhood and Career respectively. this isn't a complaint, I honestly think it adds to the song as it adds a storytelling element to the song as Stevie is also passing the song on to a future generation.

Was happy to have had the HD cam with me. Happy 40th B'day to Yea So. Yes, Ed did seem slightly nervous. Video monitors provide lyrics. Professional karaoke nowadays. Think about artists years ago that never had help on stage. They knew their songs, always, like Stevie.

+Ed Share One 94 or 95 one of the two. Coolio sampled the song and kept some of the original lyrics. But he basically made it his own. Stevie still gets the royalties for it.

😎. Seeing this video for the first time: (Nov. 10th, 2020.) Joe Biden & Kamala Harris are President/Vice President elect. It's tempting for me to OVEREMPHASIZE the social significance of seeing Stevie & Ed, together performing THIS particular song. In other words: I WAS BLOWN AWAY. 💙

This is a weird pairing. Sheeran has empty, shallow lyrics where every song is essentially saying the same thing. Wonder is deep and has something new to say in each song.
