You're right, Jim Carrey is in a class of his own when it comes to perfectly copying Jerry Lewis. Imagine if he'd tried to be original at some stage?

Jim has had a huge career, obviously, but to me it still kinda feels like we haven't gotten everything out of his massive talent.

The full context is that he build up the sentences like he was expectedly nervous working with her because he'd feel inferior at acting with such a legendary actress but ended it like (as a joke of course) he was nervous because she's the inferior one but turned out it was unnecessary to be nervous because she was open minded and willing to learn. That "willing to learn" line is the turning point that reverses the meaning of why he was nervous in the beginning.

One thing for sure, Jim Carey knows how to complement his fellow actors. Even Meryl Streep was thoroughly impressed with this man's talents. His last complements to her were so genuine.

That was incredible in ways I can't even describe. The way he took that room and just totally owned it, he had them all genuinely cracking up from the gate, and didnt lose rythm for one second, I wish this man of ALL people were still doing movies.

So blessed to be a part of the generation who witnessed this gem of an artist... irreplaceable and unparalleled in comic timing and comic sense...

I always lose it on the shape-shifter, body snatcher part. I've watched this speech so many times for the past 2 decades. Never gets old. Damn, there will never be another comedic tribute speech that can top this one.

agree, I think Jim Carrey as young trained to make "faces" instead on being on social media, he has trained his whole life for this, and he got the luck and timing and all, I also don't think there will ever be a new Jim Carrey in the future, too much work to get where he is.

Carrey’s last comment there (5:55-6:03) makes me cry every time. Beautiful. Beautiful tribute! His “simply the best” too.

It always amazes me how he goes from over the top slapstick and jokes to actual sincere adoration. He also does it on a dime. It like there is as witch that flicked and he's deep and meaningful.

One of those moments when 'tribute' itself doesn't know which way to go.. the person giving it is as genius as the person receiving it!! This is just magical. Meryl Streep and Jim Carey have made this world a better place to live in.. without a doubt!
