It's so annoying We was trying to go to your party but we couldn't. *Past perfect simple* Before I started to learn English, I had been studying in School. She had twenty jobs before she had finally finished college. *Past perfect continuous* I had been learning movements before. She was tired because she had been studying all night. I had been practicing English when I finally found a Job. He has been practicing English for 5 years.

Great effort! Just check over your first past perfect sentence. You've used 'had been studying' so it is past perfect continuous.

First one of on the present, " is the 44th president" means he is currently the 44th president as its probably still in the charge. The second one is on the past because it means he is not the 44th anymore, therefore he must not be in the charge in actuality. I think :)

Actually first one is correct.If the next person is taking charge means he will be the 45th president. Still the first sentence is correct that is only 'Obama is the 44th president' If u want to use past tense means the sentence will be changed as - Obama was the president.
