God, this guy. He is so masculine and yet has that childlike innocence about him. I hope to see him in many more films.

This movie was so honest and simple without taking anything away from the emotional depth. You know how they say less is more? This movie exactly. I was holding my breath the entire time (in a good way), really just spellbound. And their dinner scene when they were talking about inyun together in person....so beautifully done.

I just read the review by Peter Bradshaw in the Guardian (again) after watching the film and I agree this is a beautiful, heart-wrenching film and, indeed, a 'must-see', but I don't think Hae Sung can be described as someone 'who has sacrificed everything in his life for this distant real love' - the film is more nuanced than that. To give an example: when Nora asks Hae Sung over Skype why he doesn't learn English instead of Mandarin, he doesn't put love first and learn English which would make it possible for him to build a life with her in America, but instead prioritises his career as an engineer. Both characters in this sense fail to grasp the opportunities when they present themselves, and they end up saving what can be saved in the time they are together. This makes them very human and explains why we can relate to them so easily.

Just saw the movie! Everyone was PERFECTLY CAST. The three of them (along with John) gave their characters so much life. I also absolutely loved the writing and direction -- you could actually feel like it's a real thing that could've happened somewhere, and it made it so much more beautiful and painful. Loved it!

I loved the scene he’s talking about, with Nora and Arthur talking in bed. Up until that scene I was wondering if they had the same connection, if they were truly happy in their marriage; that scene sealed it for me. It was so brief yet communicated so much about who they were as a couple.

My favourite scene is in front of the orbiting carousel - spinning as a globe. I had tears rolling down my face. How is it possible to connect so eternally with 2 characters in less than 2 hours? Incredible film. Superbly directed. Sensational performances. Timeless poetry and wonderful cinema. Such a triumph! 🎉

Past Lives is almost the same with mine. I met "a my very close friend" at 14 at middle school. A year later we separated bcause my family move to other city. We met 3 years later and continue our long distance relationship with letters. Then we lost contact in our 18yo. For 30 years I did tried to find him. Until I got news that he has passed away 5 years ago. Well, finally I just can visit his grave. Knowing him in my teenager was my beautiful moment in time.

Fantastic movie. I believe this movie relates to a lot of people in ways that are not commonly disclosed in society. Mostly because most humans are afraid to touch this emotion or subject matter. Yes folks it is possible to love another while you are in a committed relationship with someone else.

Love is always a sacrifice ..now, disguise in a form of Past Lives, Honor, Integrity etc. Few Asian stories ending …in deepest and purest Love , ever! Narrative like this helps many cope with their situation and not taking individuals take accountability on their unwise individual decision making process ! Great acting💜💜💜💜❤️😅💜💜🌹🌹🔥🌹🌹🌹🌹
