Since I was a kid, I've loved the Irish railways so much!! I've certainly favoured the 121 class locomotive. I was born in 1959 and so I observed these trains from a young age. I was also a keen train spotter from the age of 6/7. I love 💓 ❤ to look back on those times!! x

Mainly old footage I'm restoring Ronan, won't be any new stuff for the time being, interest well and truly lost in the scene unfortunately. Hope you're well.

Nice sound from the solo 141 class there. I'm guessing it must have been a last minute stand in? Though it did only have five coaches. And a 201 on Cravens stock seems a little incongruous as well

I'd imagine it was, never saw a single baby on a passenger service before. 5 practically empty coaches and it seemed to struggle. Yeah the 201s made light work of Cravens, could haul 15+ coaches without breaking sweat.

What is purpose of the ring he hands the driver?

  • @TheIrishMainline

The ring has a staff (or token) attached that grants the train access to the next block section of line. The token is used as a key to unlock the lever frame in the signal cabin. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Token_(railway_signalling)

Excellent Scenes from the Good Years Danny!😃.Was it rare for a 141/181 Class Locomotive to work Passenger and Freight Train Services on there own?.I've seen them a lot working two together on other people's KZread Channels.

Thanks Alan, was rare to see them single on freight but even rarer on passengers. This is the only time I spotted one in single on a service and even with only 5 coaches it struggled.
