There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

Uh, can we appreciate that he also invented THE BACHELOR 💍
Obviously, every movie is The Mummy and every book is just spun off from something Jane Austen wrote.

Reality is just a spin off of a Jane Austen novel

And yet, weirdly, not The Mummy Returns. Still not sure how that happened, tbh.
Oh fuck so basically the perfect woman contest was what post-divorce Steven Crowder does now. 😂😂😂
Robert imagining imhotep in every movie ever made is great.
"We're not legally allowed to call it food"
Just cause you're too young to walk don't mean you're too young for GAINS, brotherrrrrrrrrr
Surprised I haven't heard more about this guy in relation to Citizen Kane. Hearst is obviously better known for a bunch of reasons (IIRC he filed a defamation suit over the film), but Bernar's biography seems like a better fit for many of the key events of Kane's life - his childhood, the money-losing high-profile tabloid, the disastrous entry into politics...
Afaik, babies actually have more bones than adults. They have ~300 bones when they're born and those gradually fuse together until they end up with the ~200 that an adult has.
Man. Just when I'm like "Bernar is kind if iconic" he's like PSYCH IM A NAZI 😩
Not first, but definitely the earliest I’ve been for an episode, so yay! 😊
"Ghandi's Sex life, brought to you today by Raytheon!"
Behind the Bastards. The ONES...who bring the part TWOs. 😊☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽
So... in a VERY roundabout way, he inspired creepypasta. Sweet.
Worm Culture Treason is my new prog metal band
Berwyn is the name of a mountain range in Wales, for whatever that's worth to you. However insufferable you might find it that he named his child that, he didn't invent the name, nor was he the first person with that name.
Among the hobos, a muscular hobo is known as a swolbobro and they're not popular.

Oh, you. I actually googled it.

Worms: our little friends on the inside.
The more I listen to this pod, the more I think Robert actually believes babies are born without bones.
Yayy!!
Franklin Pierce had his buddy Nathanial Hawthorne write a biography to help him win the presidency IIRC. I might be getting some of that wrong, but he's a good subject for BtB
His politicians duking it out isnt that out there for his time. Wasnt Lincoln a boxer/wrestler? Teddy was an avid hunter? He would be horrified at how that office has, erm, declined in that capacity
I also have never seen, and have no intention of ever seeing, Titanic.
Bothe of my grandmother's had 8 children in 7 years. He went easy in her.

If they were Greatest Generation, Silents, or early Boomers, yeah, there seemed to have been some kind of national movement to have all the kids you could crank out. My parents, Silents, had 5 of us and it was going to be 6, but one miscarried. Except for a gap there, we're all 1-2 years apart.
The captions insist on showing the guy's name as "Bernard"... Which is RIGHT. This isn't "Behin the Bastars"! >:C Gasp! ...OR... P.S. Robert, the worms are from running around barefoot. You'll get worms through your feet.
Honestly Gandhi was a creep anyway, so Bernarr sensationalizing the "column" title isn't that big a deal.
If it's any comfort, "the orpingtons at the county fair" would refer to chickens en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orpington_chicken not pigs.
