Especially arranged and rung as a surprise commemoration, as part of the 80th birthday celebrations in the Parish this weekend for Prof Berkeley Hill BEM, Organist & Master of the Choristers here since October
1972. He and his wife came to meet the band just before the peal was started for.
Rung while the town's Mayday celebrations were taking place in the High Street.
Also for the 60th anniversary of the Ordination of Canon Norman Harman Woods BD, AKC (Vicar of Hythe 1976-2001) to the Priesthood on Trinity Sunday May 24th 1964, and to herald the safe arrival some eight hours after the completion of this peal of a baby girl, Evelyn Joan, ('Evie') weighing 8lb 6oz; a first child for Rev Fr Michael Darkins (newly appointed as Vicar - under Common Tenure - of Hythe) and his wife.
First peal at Hythe with the Guild for exactly 95 years to the day.
Birthday compliments also today to Martin E. Luffman (who would have liked to ring in this peal) and Frank Wenham.

These look rather flighty, and look hard to stike. And well done.
