Monster of a job. Crappy previous foundations, huge blocks, dodgy hips, roasting hot weather. Who would be a brickie! But you two guys seem to make light of it all and get the job done, no matter what. Thank you for the editing and uploads Steve - I'm feeling for you with that hip. Onwards and upwards.

Hi from Nevada, I really enjoy watching your videos, can't always understand your accents 🤔 I have worked in my Pa's construction business for a number of years along with my two brothers and I see a how he like you have treated each other with respect, our projects are a tad larger than yours but same obstacles seem to arise , I smile at the amount of times you say "well time for a break" keep up the great content. I did a extension on a relatively new build, when the existing foundation blocks were exposed, they were fractured. Why? I can't tell you, but, I've never been happy building a building on an airated moisture sapping block. We do foundations in concrete common bricks. Yes, I know you have to cavity fill etc etc. Those lightweight blocks will not stand the test of time. My bricklaying crystal ball has served me well for 36 years.

The wall starter which was fixed onto the render. The render should’ve been hacked off, so the wall starter would’ve been fixed fixed directly to the brickwork or block work, which is over behind the render for a structural fitting as the fixings will only go in a little bit if you keep the render on

@@SteveAndAlexBuild so true. A real pain ATM. I found certain wall ties were not quite long enough even though stated as 275. Pre-finished Sill boards are now harder to find. Building inspector was helpful though and a bit more flexible than my past experience. I intended doing brick, 150mm full fill rock wool 32 and block. But found out from the inspector I would need additional 25mm insulation on the inside to meet the code. Ended up using 100mm celotex in the cavity. Not cheap

@@SteveAndAlexBuild No way did the mortar spread out that much, you could see it squashing out an inch from the side. There would be hollows under the blocks and perps, bad practice indeed.

Watching the crane unload brought back memories of when a truck would arrive and tip it all out, leaving you to handball it all to your job 😂 having said that, all you needed to do was offer cash in the nearest pub,and you'd have labourers in an instant. 😂 ,👍🧱
