might want to get a spade chisle for your big hammer for digging things like this it works great fast and sves the back a bit
Mothers always shout and scream when ever there is a mess.👍🤣
You guys got a tough job this time. let hope the weather stays nice and don't get to hot or to wet. good luck.🙂👍
Cheers Howard 😬🧱👍🏽
Get Matty and the boys from Brockstone for your back patio. 😎
I wish 🧱👍🏽😍
That was a tough job for both of you I've been there and done it! Are you going to square the manhole to the property of leave it diagonal? 👍
Square 🧱👍🏽
Difficult job, this one... 😮
Very! 😒🧱👍🏽
The water meter is in a strange location, they are usually at the boundary where the footpath is or where the water pipe enters the house. If there is a stop tap in the footpath I would have been tempted to resite the meter further back in the grass. By the way their is SDS drill attachment you can buy to chamfer the waste pipes, I seen it on another youtube channel. Great work though.
🧱👍🏽
not loving 3 boards with no gate and ladder finishing so short on scaffold, was waiting for one of you to go through that hole. Also an acro supported on a strong boy that is not supported by an acro???? Others wise great video 👍
The scaffold was awful 😒🧱👍🏽
just exactly what we suffer for family 😭😭 shit happens🤣🤣
Yup ! 😆🧱👍🏽
It looks like it would have been easier to overdig the excavation site and then re-tamp everything instead of trying to work in a small hole. Then you can just put the pipes where you want to then cover them up when you are done. Just asking not criticizing.
🧱👍🏽
is this your house Steve I have plenty of friends who are either in the building trade and decorators and never have time to do their own, thanks for the video.
Yes Eddie 😬😆🧱👍🏽
Looked hard work guys. but you got there in the end. your one of my top you tube channels with d@j projects 😀
Cheers David . We have been to see Dave and Stevie and had a factory tour . Great lads great channel 🧱😍👍🏽
Awesome every day is an education thanks lads
Cheers Phil 🧱👍🏽
It won't be a problem rodding or jetting the branch on the Y. A jet line can be made to go up it with the right head on or if you use plastic rods they can be bent as their pushed in and sent up the Y.
Nice one you’re the second person to say that so I’m quite relieved cheers 🧱👍🏽
Cracking job lads, been there done that, problem after problem, But you just got to close your minds, and crack on. all the best with the build..
So true Les, head down arse up get it done 🧱👍🏽
Nothing worse than when working is a narrow trench and every rub against the sides break away material that falls into your boots 😞
Especially when you’ve got a knackered hip and it’s a right painful faff to get them off to empty them. 😫🧱👍🏽
Brilliant work and great video as always!! Definitely the start of a big project. Have you got a date for your operation yet Steve? Hope all is well, take care of yourselves
Cheers Peter . Some time in 2025 😫🧱👍🏽
Lovely girl lovely accent, get that ring on her finger mate .
😍😆🧱👍🏽
@23:20 - love that mini pick axe.
😁🧱👍🏽
Why wouldn’t you get a skip at the start looks much more professional Steve no mess no eye sore for customer or neighbours and only move the spoil and rubble once ! Now you have to dig it and scrape it off a nice looking lawn
It’s ours mate 😉🧱👍🏽
Cheers Steve that’s answered my questions new there had to be a reason !! Cheers Steve 👍
@dciburnsidesniffsniff6119 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
You know you should always put some osb boards down when digging in a lawn maté otherwise it’s going to get trashed
It’s going to be a drive soon 🧱👍🏽
That’s shut me up lol nice one 👍
😆😆🧱👍🏽
Well, that was a struggle! But as usual, you've ended up with a neat job. As you say, having a Y joint under the house isn't ideal but at least the main pipe carrying the toilets is roddable. I bet the dig for the foundation and other drain diversion was pretty grim as well. Not to mention bridging over the new sewer and services! You really must want that porch! Sorry to hear about the further delay on your hip operation.
The dig was as bad, not fun at all . 😫😫. The porch will be worth it hopefully 😬😆. Yeah the hip situation isn’t good . 😒🧱👍🏽
What a nightmare of pipework to be cut and moved 😳 Considering how complicated it was you two battled on and did a great job of that . 👍👍 Who's house is it ?
Soul destroying Doug …. Ours 😫🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Oh i missed that part about it being your house 😀 I heard mention of your wife's name and didn't put 2 and 2 together. Christine is the task master on this job. 🤫
Absolutely, 😍😆🧱👍🏽
All you are missing is a couple of terracotta warriors.
🤣🧱👍🏽
Great job been there hard work and stress ful at times
😬🧱👍🏽
Metaphorically one could say that was indeed a sh*thouse job! LOL!
💩😆🧱👍🏽
That took a lot of patience, well done!
It certainly did cheers Kevin 🧱👍🏽
That’s why you don’t just randomly free climb buildings
🤨
11:59 is Alex almost at the center of the earth yet?
🤣🧱👍🏽
Small digger 😂😂 Not a professional, but would an internal sealed manhole cover not been easier? Although im sure digging for foundations would still have been required.
I’d rather not have it inside . I always imagine shitty drain rods in your nice clean porch if rodding is ever needed 💩😬🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild 😂😂😂 Id not considered that 😂
😬😁👍🏽👍🏽
Grate work on the moving of the pipes lads
Cheers 🧱👍🏽
Great video guys, can you tell me what's the maximum length of time before the block work has to be rendered, bearing in mind that im in England ? You built that wall in November wasnt it, can it be rendered in the winter ? Thanks guys keep up the good work
Hi Gary sorry we have no idea as we don’t do rendering 😬🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild thanks for the reply
Back-breaking work lads, well done. I'm doing a French Drain in a few weeks and I just hope there are no services to hamper me...wishful thinking. Thanks again.
Best of luck pal 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
I would of said your not getting a porch , no way
😆🧱👍🏽
The worst part is done? And it's all going to go smoothly from now on !! 😗 🇨🇦🤓🤟
Er no it’s not 😒🧱👍🏽
Quote of the day. “If we hadn’t left this for two weeks we would have had it done by now” No sh1t Sherlock. That did make me smile. Nothing worse that doing your own stuff you don’t get paid for. But will be worth it when it’s done and you can laugh about it. 😅
Very true Ray 🤣🧱👍🏽
Like my Dad used to say when fixing the Toilet .. " It's a S**ty Job..but someone has to do It !! "... 🇨🇦🤓🤟
Never a truer word spoken 💩🤣🧱👍🏽
Great job Steve n Alex you no be best job because keep misses happy Steve 🤣 best lads on the job 👍👍
😆🧱👍🏽
The client is going to be a right arse on this job. You won't hear the end of it until the snagging list on the snagging list is done! lol
🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
Nice job. Could you have used a concrete lintel instead of the steel?
For that span probably but I think that wall supported the roof 🧱👍🏽
You both must have been so 'drained' after all that digging!!!
😏😒🧱👍🏽
Jesus guys, that was stressful even watching it. God knows how you two felt. 😅
Just the beginning 😫🧱👍🏽
Jesus i Feel your Pain ( That's why i Never be a Hitman, the Hassle of digging a shallow grave 😉🤣😂🤣) She's a ⚽⚽ Breaker, Notting Worse than working on your own place, Costing you time and Money compared to a Customer Job, where you get Paid for that 💩😂🤣. Lad's i Think you Missed Your Calling"🫀Surgeon" that was Some Serious Open 🫀 Work there, You Deserve your 🍺🍺 on this One 👏👏👏
Cheers Joe 🤣🧱👍🏽
That looked like hard work digging out all that crap, then the collapse. But you got that part done. Well done, Steve and Alex.
Cheers Rob 🧱👍🏽
A lesser man would have backfilled that job after about an hour digging and said thats not for me😂😂
😫🤣🧱👍🏽
Why that’s a soft dig to many you will encounter we dig many hard footings by hand where there’s no access for a machine
🧱👍🏽
This is probasbly a silly question, but with so many services in the way, once you are below the pipes level, why not use a high pressure washer like the Karcher and a largish wet and dry vacuum cleaner to suck up the resulting mud?
🤨🤨🤨
@@SteveAndAlexBuild don't kick it before you try it :-). I realise the dirt was falling in off the sides, but you could put sheets of plywood to shore the sides up while digging and you'd be surprised how little water the pressure washer uses.
Not for us thanks 🧱👍🏽
Love watching this channel big respect for helping your dad mate. Your dad does really well considering. Big love too you all guys x
Thanks Richard 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
As much as I like your videos, why didn’t you use a small digger
Are you actually serious!?
Just think about it.

@@SteveAndAlexBuild yer 250 quid for it to sit there all day while you dug the hole out great. some people have never dug round utility and dont know what they are talking about.
Spent a lot of time digging around other utilities in my career and it’s never fun. Somebody recommended a digger, most of the time when they were on the job with multiple utilities in the trench all they are good for is to take up space and look good Most excavating is done by hand in such situations. Cheers mates
Always the same when working on your own house Steve that was a mare but done now .isn't it right a man hole each change of direction of pipe for the other pipe parallel to the house did a similar job a while back . The back garden a bit of work a mini digger needs 800mm to get through a door so should fit side gate mate .Retaining walls steps etc and the patio cost of quid that but be nice when done . Good luck hope it all comes easier for you felt for you on that boys 🧱🧱🙌
This was just the beginning Justin . The dig was as bad 😫. 1 1/2 ton digger eventually, fence panel coming out 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Oh no mate why is it always so difficult on your own house bet you wish you never started it Steve . Phone quite for us here what's it like with you up there mate? 👍
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping . Ticking over , not ideal but every day off is also a blessing 🧱👍🏽
@SteveAndAlexBuild I no I now feel the same Steve issue is Alex needs to earn as does frazer never easy is it mate . You must have a date for the op by now surely 🧱👍
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping . I have a nail infection which takes 6 months to treat and they won’t entertain operating till it’s clear so no op this year. Gutted but at least I know now and I’m not waiting for a letter every day any more . 😒🧱👍🏽
I'm about a fifth of the way through a job that's killing me right now. Because of the cancer & the arthritis i really really really wish i hadn't started & got someone else to do it but you know what it's like, we take on this shit but you know the worse part for me? It's self inflicted, it's my job, something that I wanted & so decided that I'd do it once I had a little bit of energy. That energy lasted about 20 minutes so now I can only do little bits at a time, visually making no headway at all.....
Best of luck with it pal 🧱👍🏽
full understand my feind im thare with you but i have many prjets to get done too lol and here i thought i retired from the construction lol nope i just wont sit still
