Part 5: 600 Mile Drive to Gulches Off-Road Park in South Carolina - 2013 Ultimate Adventure Week
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The final episode of the 2013 Ultimate Adventure follows the well-worn group of 25 custom 4x4s from the sands of Daytona Beach towards the rain and mud of South Carolina on a 600 mile road trip. Along the Buccaneer Trail they encounter bridges, ferries, and mechanical misfortune. The final day is spent beating on their 4x4s at the Gulches Off Road park, South Carolina's premier (and only) wheeling destination. With trails named Pirates Revenge, Shipreck, Death Valley, and Radical Ravine, it's easy to see why this is such a killer park.

GREAT VIDEO RICK!!!! I LOVE ULTIMATE ADVENTURE !!!! ONE OF MY FAVORITE EVENTS. THANK YOU TO ALL THE SPONSORS AND FANS!!!!!
One of the first times I just started fast forwarding a Motortrend video.
skip is the man. some time around when this video came out actually I drove down there 3 hours or so from charlotte. lifted Toyota still with IFS. He explained the trails really well, told me some areas to avoid with my truck, gave me a discount rate to enter, and was otherwise overall super nice. Told me if I needed anything to just call up and he would send someone out to me. It was a perfect dry hot day and I completed all the marked trails (17 at the time) without any issues. I did skip some of the real difficult rock climb parts, but still completed every trail. It is a great park that with some spotting and picking the easier lines, even stock rigs can go and have a day of fun at. And there are several spots within the park that are for hardcore rigs also. So except for the time it took to get there, it is a great value also, for spending a whole day doing anything you want to do offroad WITH the ability to call back to the office for help if you get stuck, (at the time) $20 is great.
I can't stop watching, I don't know why.
I really enjoyed this series! The best part if Ultimate Adventure is the mix of vehicles. I definitely would've like to see more of that CUCV though. It looked closest to stock out of all of them.
when I'll be a pensioner I'l build my own off road truck from tubular steel and do stuff just like this. Thank you for keeping my dream alive until then
I had a lot of time to watch this video yesterday, in fact I made a comment on it... but I prefered to pass it and watch these in the correct order, it sure was worth it! :)
I enjoyed watching every single second of this year Ultimate adventure! Can't wait for the next one.
Gulches when its dry is amazing fun. Even on a mild rig its so much fun, and Skip is just a cool guy.
This was a great series. I can't wait to see next year's footage!
LOVED THE SERIES! GREAT WORK GUYS!
some very nice motors kitted and lifted. didn't see a landrover product
Kind of makes me glad I never went on these trips, but also a little sad at the missed opportunity, cuz by the 2nd obstacle, I probably would've murdered my winch setup LOL
Awesome video like always watch all the Ultimate Adventure I'm going to have to say the 2013 was the best one that was epic
So cool watching you guys roll through my hometown
That was awesome Mr Pewe!
Great stuff going on there loved it all great show guys n girls
I wanted to see more of what the ford could do. Kinda dumb that they showed the build but barely any clips of it
imi place foarte mult acest Sport.

Looked like a really great time, but we didn't get to see very much!! More footage of the offroading part!!
Awesome video brother 😎
Looks like that was an awesome trip, I hope I can apply for next years.
Great series, more mud next year.
That was a awesome side by side
awesome :) watched video part 1 to 5 :D
stop complaining this is a great series of videos remember this isn't a tv show
Hey MT, gotta compliment you on this series. Really enjoyed it :)
I just love how people are like more wheeling less talking you do realize that you are watching this for free right? Oh and if want to more wheeling then buy the dvd they put out every year and actually support the magazine. These are like teasers to the Dvd.
watching this makes me miss my '81 chev on 48's, it went anywhere but would be illegal in most states
Cool video
very cool!!
Awesome adventure makes me want to wheel off-road (:
I watched this yesterday
Hah, the Mayport Ferry! I live 10mins away from there. Only problem with that ferry is the ride is way too short to enjoy anything let alone the views. Haha.
Next year you guys should come out here to Idaho. We have some nasty mountain trails and sloppy mud out here waiting for you
there is a 200acre park is sc called twin ridges 4x4 its a newer park you can look it up on fb though
I think someone uploaded this yesterday by mistake hahaha! ROADKILL!!!!!!!
i would love to see a budget vision of this with 35s and smaller optional lockers and things of that nature and call it mild adventure lol
iv been to that park with a friend it was fun
Why can't people just watch without telling the video makers what to cover. These folks need to start making their own videos. Or put in some production money so they have a say. I enjoy these videos just the way they are.
I literally live 2 minutes from Gultches ORV park. Wish I would have known so I could have watched them.
good today aswell!
awsome
its massive
Nothing beats the deep South. ;)
I love the beach in mayport there is a jettie out there and you can pull world class reds out there
Nice
Can't wat to next year
Not enough video of the trail running. Too much talking and explaining.

Yup to much yap not enough truck.
If you put your brakes on the tires lock up and you just slide and have very little control. If you put the transmission in first and the transfer case in low range the tires will turn slowly and hold you back, but keep turning.
The DVD has all the action.
Ok, is it me or did that truck at 9:04 almost kill that guy??? Holy shit that looked close!

Yeah this show almost went from Ultimate Adventure, to RoadKill in about half a second. I'm glad dude has quick reflexes lol
This feels so familiar.
That bridge is not the "Sydney lapeer bridge" or whatever you said sir.... Just curious where did you get that name? It's the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Love watching these episodes though. I only dream that I'll have something that could do what these trucks do.
Seen this yesterday. XD
goody for you.
They already went to the Oregon dunes last year.
Hell yeah I live like 20 minutes from there
cool
Have you ever thought of doing a ultimate family adventure. We wheel all over the north east and I usually have 3 to 4 of my kids, wife and 2 dogs that go along. I think their are a lot of your readers out their that would love to do something more family friendly. We run a 1989 Ford Bronco with XO-Skeliton cage on 42" tires, dana 60 front axle 4 linked and moved forward 4", dana 80 rear 4 linked and moved back 10", 5.8L engine 203/205 Transfer Cases. I would pull and overlander trailer around on a trip like the ultimate adventure but drop it at the camp sites. Thank You and love the shows.

Haha I live on Vancouver Island so I gotta take a ferry if I want to get off the island.
Where was FRED?? He's the Real Star !!!
Where can I buy this DVD? I live 20 miles from gulches go just about every weekend. Love great people great trails and if you hang out long enough you can see some pretty wicked rigs. Especially on the presidents day run this weekend.
I have been on a ferry 67 times and I'm 13 years old
how many more of these damn off-road videos do we have to watch?
Gotta pay to use beaches for 4wd access here in australia to, you have to get a Wildlife and National Parks Permit
I feel like a just watched a 5 part trailer to an offroad show. Wait that was it?
So badass not spelling right
When crawling a truck down a hill, as in allowing its low gearing and engine compression to slow it, often times its better to just let the engine slow you than apply the brakes. This allows the tires to rotate 'all be it very slowly' without locking up by braking and sending you into a slide. Ceramic pads are actually worse in low speed and normal street driving as they require a certain heat range to be affective. Unless your track racing or towing heavy loads, they are stupid to have.

Best to use gas pedal on a very steep down hill
is there going to be a ultimate adventure extras segment
I want all those trucks lol
I live like ten minutes from gulches, next time tell me y'all go I'll bring my rubicon
man i really want to be part of this on some kind of way
Also, what's the name of the song at 4:58? That's the best song on Motortrend. :)
Have until next year then
Ha I live 3 miles from gulches. Fun place even though its only about 80 acres.
What song was at 5:13?
what do you guys do with the lead vehicle after it's over?
@oducks5820
9 жыл бұрын
I think they keep all vehicles featured on these road kill shows.
If you watched the series you would know that the engine issue's were in part 2
That guy was high as HELL.
did fred go along? he made the truck but wasnt in any of the videos
Who broke the engines and where are the vids of that?
9:03 that was close lol
How bout more video of the rigs next time.
Good gawds.. Okay. Not every day. No. I work every day. In my shop, I build rockcrawlers, rally cars and track cars. Im building a new personal crawler as we type. 77 chevy cab, 6x6 with rockwells and 46" XL tires. I raced in pro gravel rally for years. You dont know that scary is, man. Ive been crawlin' for 30 years. When your geared low enough, its better to let the rig roll than brake. Not saying they are not using them. Its just better to let the rigs crawl.
So bad ass gojng 10 miles on hour

Nathan Davidov it's not a race
You know hes talking about a 4wd's not a bike it's totally different in this case. Applying the brakes can cause a 4wd to slide uncontrollably or roll end over end, that is why why he recommends not to use the brakes.
is the resq1 jeep diesel powered?
