Do you want to know how to sell printables or digital downloads / instant downloads on Etsy for free? In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to get started selling printables on Etsy by showing you how to make mockups completely for FREE! You do NOT need Photoshop for this - contrary to popular belief you can make a mockup without Photoshop. Instead this will be a GIMP mockup tutorial, which is basically a free Photoshop.
Selling printables is a great way to make passive income on Etsy. BUT, selling printables requires mockups for your Etsy shop, with beautiful photography and great Etsy digital product listings. A mockup is a term used to stage your printable art in a picture frame (in case you didn't know).
If you don't know how to use mockups for Etsy, don't worry. In this tutorial I will show you how to create an Etsy listing photo and how to stage your printable art for FREE with a step by step walkthrough of GIMP. GIMP is a free mockup tool that can be used for Etsy. This video is great if you're looking for beginner tips on how to start an Etsy digital products shop. If you're intimidated on how to be successful on Etsy, just follow this guide.
This tutorial will be covering how to create a digital art mockup with objects in front of the frame and how to create fake shadows on a frame.

You were saying about keeping the light source in mind, but place your shadows direction under the leaves. You were way off on that angle. Check out the bottom of the frame and you can see the pot base shadow. The leftmost leaf shadow should be towards the middle of the frame.

I make a beeline for all your GIMP tutorials on creating mockups and different sizings of digital artwork! For a photoshop/digital editing noob like me with a handmade business, this content is gold, thank-you so much! May I ask if you know how to create watercolour paper texture for mockups? The Add Canvas option on GIMP doesn't really have anything that comes close, and since my artworks are all watercolour is there any way of superimposing an image of plain watercolour paper to emulate the texture?

Try On 1 raw to replace PS adjusting/editing photography. Much better than PS, and it's a one-time purchase. Look at sme of the vids showing what it can do! The choices are amazing!

Try checking if you have an alpha channel in your project before you delete! Right click on your layer, and at the bottom click "add alpha channel".

Hi Brittany, your videos are very helpful, however I run into an issue regarding the implementation of art into a frame. I already created some mockups, however the settings changed or something and I am not able to create more mockups. What happens is that I can manage to cut out the area of the frame, but when I want to display the art in the frame, it does not work as wanted. I can mostly scale the art to the appropriate size, but after I do so, there occurs a new layer which I didnt created. Then, I am not able to rotate the art anymore, but it rather rotates the whole picture including the background and the art. Sometimes, it doesn´t even scale the art right. Even if the art is the background layer and should be displayed in the cut out area, it does not. It just displays a proportional part of the art and if I try to scale or move the art, the part of the art that is displayed stays the same, such that not the whole art is displayed. Any advices would be amazing. Thanks already.

What image are you using to put into the frame? is it one of the images that you deliver to customers or are you using a different image with a lower Size/DPI count?

I've never had that happen and doubt it would, BUT things happen. Customers will always find something to complain about. My policy is always have excellent customer service even in frustrating situations like this and just try your best to explain the situation. Thanks for watching!
