do you explain me that 2 by 3 ratio file how we make
Hi Brittany, I just wanted to clear up the DPI and PPI for you. The DPI refers to the actual printer resolution. So 300 dots per inch means the printer used 300 dots in one inch from left to right then drops down one line and repeats whether it drops on the right and returns left or resets on the left and then starts the next line. The dots do not have a standard size and you can get somewhat different results from printers starting from the old dot matrix printers to the newest printers whether they are laser or ink jet. Pixels per inch refer to digital quality only and should not be interchangeably with DPI. Think of it this way, PPi is like a camera lens, less PPI the more out of focus it becomes, i.e. the more pixelated it is. The more in focus it is the sharper and more detail you get, i.e. the higher the PPI the more detail and sharper the image is. The image will be the same size on your computer monitor, it does not get any larger or smaller only sharper or more pixelated. The less PPI the worse the picture, the more PPI the better the picture. Hope this helps. :) Great video and you certainly helped me with it. Thanks. :)

I'm so so happy you didn't give up! I think there's space for everyone to do this so I'm happy to help more artists get their work out into the world :)
I’ve made myself a script that automates the whole process - just 1 click and my 1 large file is resized proportionally from the middle centre to 6 different sizes and saved with the filenames including their sizes. I was getting sick of spending so much time doing this 1 size at a time. If you can learn about scripts and use them for repetitive tasks, your productivity will improve once you have a suitable script, and you can focus on enjoying the art creation process more.

OMG this video taught me so much, things I never even knew you should look into before making art to sell. I thought when you select a size to make that is the size you have to print, I heard about pixels, but never thought it would play a factor in my art postings. Also, having the ratio files for the customer to choose from is better than giving them a select few sizes to choose from. I definitely learned a lot from this video, you are right that people would charge to learn all this but from your struggles as a beginner at one time you know what it's like to not know or understand what you are trying to learn and cannot find that help because you have to pay to learn and to pay to learn is a little crazy... Therefore, I Thank you for your time and greatly appreciate it.

A1 is the second-largest format in the A paper size series. A0 refers to the full-size paper that is used for printing. In the past, we used A0 paper for printing, and then cut it into smaller sizes. A1 is created by folding A0 paper once, and each subsequent A format is obtained by halving the previous size, down to A6, and occasionally A8 or smaller, although I haven't seen paper cut that small. However, Yes. There are larger paper sizes available, as well as paper on rolls, which is a separate topic for discussion. EDIT done. (I went ahead and made some edits to that confusing text. Wonderful, the best sizing and resolution tutorial I have seen! Love your real conversational tone, succinct and to the point.. "The black screen of doom" had me LOOOOLLLL , it's so true haha, thank you! X
Just a nerdy side note if it helps : Jpg is a smaller file size and is more compressed ( on smaller images of 72 dpi - which is usually any phone photo is at, you tend to see square shape artifacts) Png is a larger file size and uses "lossless" compression i.e a higher quality and a cheaper version for a tga or tiff files ( formats used by printing studios) People usually use png if there is transparency (a.k.a Alpha) - e.g. for logos or graphics for t-shirts. The choice of jpg or png is in the eye of the artist when working at 300dpi and if customers are happy, then nothing to worry about. I would personally go for pngs for that extra quality assurance peace of mind, but for something like this you probably won't notice a difference at 300 dpi. Also when zipping up files like these jpgs would result in a smaller file size and stores may have a limit so its usually the better choice in that respect for 300 dpi. Plus use jpgs on store images as they will load faster than others because of the compression.

You are so welcome!
WOW. you just made me tear up; i am not exaggerating when i say this is the best christmas gift. all this which you described is why i have never put up anything on my digital site other than greeting cards. why is that? because i'm using canva and have a deathly fear of producing blurry art due to their px limitations. and my forays into GIMP for this exact purpose were painful because i do not know photoshop and don't have time to learn. i am eternally grateful to the youtube algorithms that placed your video in front of me. i use GIMP only superficially because even with GIMP user forum help, youtube help, the larger internet searches, I STILL barely know what i'm doing in that awesome free app. your video is an absolute godsend. i am now working on my first downloadable wall art and am doing so confidently. thank you. i am a new sub.
