Part 3 Tennessee River Ft. Louden Marina to Chattanooga

From Ft. Louden Marina on the Tellico Lake, we go through two locks, Ft. Louden Lock and Dam and Watts Bar Lock and Dam. Three lakes include Tellico Lake, Watts Bar Lake and Chicamauga Lake. We stay at Tennessee National Marina and Golf Club and Terrace View Marina.

    I just stumbled on to this video. Love it! I watched y’all come and go from my boat right across from the Tiki Bar at Calhoun’s. I was in the 40’ Cruisers toward the end of A-dock. I recall seeing “Freebird” at the transient docks. If you ever make it back up this way I’ll stop by and say Hi.

    We love it here just north of Chattanooga at Island Cove Marina. There are a lot of great coves to hang out on the weekend. We have met a lot of other boaters and we tie up and have fun weekends. We can travel up the river or down the river and love the freedom of being on the river.

    @@FreebirdonTheGreatLoop…I have not been to the clubhouse. I was a guest that evening for a gathering of friends and been on the grounds at the concert venue one other time and that’s it. I’ve thought of moving my boat down there but really enjoy the seasonal live music at Calhoun’s at the Tiki bar and the proximity to everything else close by.

    Enjoying your videos. We are based at Chickamauga Marina. Planning on going up to Knoxville for a short trip, and as we haven't been that far up river, was looking for info on where to dock. Looking at the free city docks and also wondering if they let you stay overnight at the Calhouns dock. Hope to see you on the river. Thanks.

    We have not stayed at any free docks. We stayed at Ft. Louden Marina and walked over to eat at Calhouns. They are very reasonable at $40 a night including power and water. Have a great trip. Make sure you go up the Little Tennessee River. We stayed in Cow Pasture Cove near MM 9 and it was beautiful. Shown in Part 2.

    MPG don't exist on a boat. A boat will go X amount of miles per Tank.. Regardless of speed. The only thing that changes is the time it takes you to cover X distance. slower you go less fuel used per hr but have to run more hrs Boat may run 12 hrs at 10 mph or 4 hrs at 30 MPH distance and fuel the same.

    Interesting comment. Every boat is different - after 4000 miles of traveling on Freebird we find that we can go much farther on her 800 gallons of diesel at a slower speed. At 9mph she burns 6gph so we could travel 1200 miles. At 24mph she burns 35gph so we could travel 548 miles. We never run her below 1/4 tank of fuel but certainly see better efficiency at a slower pace which lets us enjoy the scenery.

    Hello, good boat! Please tell me what the fuel consumption is if you drive at a speed of 3 - 5 miles per hour?

  • @FreebirdonTheGreatLoop

    @FreebirdonTheGreatLoop

    9 ай бұрын

    Hello and thanks for your question. A speed of 3 to 5 miles per hour is dead slow idle for this boat at 525 rpm for both engines which are electronic controlled. I’m not sure of the gallons per hour at that speed but I do know that 840 rpm provides a speed of 8 to 9 miles per hour (depending on current, wind and waves). At 840 rpm we burn about 8 gallons per hour so we can go a long way on the 800 gallons of diesel we carry. Hope this information helps.
