    This cane is fabulous. I love how carefully and fully you explain everything. I have to confess, I usually don't have the patience to listen to a longer tutorial, but I will sit all day and watch one of YOURS. And that is absolutely meant to be a great compliment.

    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this, Ms. Donna🙏🏾🙏🏾🥰. As a Caribbean Afro-American woman very new to polymer clay, it is so wonderful to see part of my culture represented in this medium. Attempting canes has not been easy thus far, but as I’ve been watching and studying all of the videos you’ve patiently presented on this channel, I am giving them another go. You are a brilliant, extremely thorough and delightful teacher. I recently picked up a copy of your incredibly inspiring surface techniques book. Amazing👏🏾✨👏🏾! Please keep the videos coming! Thank you again and all the very best!🙏🏾✨🙏🏾😍🥰🥰🤗🤗

    Hey Donna! That beep you hear is your Mac's email notification sound. To turn it off go to system prefs, select notifactions and then choose Mail. Somewhere on that panel there will be a checkbox to deselect the audio sound. (you can do this on all your notifications if you don't like the bleeps and dingy sounds. Thanks for the video. I wonder if you might actually try a second time with this design, for learning sake to see how you would do it differently. I think that would help a lot of us to learn from this mistake. It almost seems better to reduce canes singly and then build the larger design only after all the reductions have been completed. Is this true? Thanks so much for your post. I am always so happy to see a post from you on my notifications (which does not ding, by the way!) Cheers! 💖

    I will try that! The mysterious beeping! I know I should have reduced the elements separately, the thought zoomed through my brain but I did not stop. I should have. The black and white part would not have distorted and the other part would have been a better reduction, as well. I may do what you suggest, could add it to the series. Hugs!❤

    Thank you for another great tutorial. I checked out the procreate app but they seem to have several of them. Some have a fee. Before making a purchase I’d like to know I have the correct app. I’m not so sure how difficult it is to work with such a close view but it is easier to see what you’re doing. I appreciate that. So when you’re in the basement by yourself (talking to us) yet appearing to be talking to yourself, does your family chuckle? Lol

    I am doing great following along with your wonderful tutorials. I was wondering if you could tell me why you use a cylinder to make a square instead of stacking layers? I stacked layers into a square and had much less problems than cutting the cylinder. I am also wanting to branch out into other colors and was thinking of a version of Alizarin Crimson. I am using up all my Kato trying to duplicate that color. Any hints about that color? Thank you so much for these tutorials. They are really wonderful.

  • @DonnaKatoArt

    @DonnaKatoArt

    Hi Ellen! I guess I find it easier but if you find layers work better for you, that’s great! Now, Aliz Crimson. I think I got close by mixing Red and a bit of Ultra Blue. I don’t have exact proportions so use the cutter method and you will get that! Keep up the great work! ❤️
