I agree with the statement that Bro. Williams is being respectful to give the LDS church a true picture of the church of christ teaching. This is showing that the LDS teaching is truly different from the church of christ teaching and doctrine. The brother talked about having Apostles today within the doctrine of the LDS denomination. Acts 1:12-26, (verses 21 & 22) tells us the specific requirements to be an Apostle of Jesus Christ. These scriptures tells us today, there are no Apostles of Jesus today; unless they are 2,000 years old or older? Also individually we do not have a church only Jesus. Jesus is the only person suffered and died for the sin of the world, resurrected and is still living today, sitting on the right hand of God, the Father. It is always great to give those a chance to know the truth, the teaching, and doctrine of Jesus Christ that is stated in the scriptures in the Holy Bible only. So, they are able to know the truth and come to Jesus Christ. if they are willing. Great and amazing teaching Bro. Williams, I see clearly. Thank you!!

EXCELLENT DISCUSSION, but I DO NOT see 👀👁️👁️👀, HOW a SAVED Dead and risen Saint can CHOOSE to take on the TASK of being BAPTIZED.......... FOR .......a Person that is ALREADY DEAD. GONE 🫥 THE Brother said, he DOESN'T know IF the DEAD Spirit on the other side, to which their doing this Marvelous favor for has RECEIVED? BELIEVED? OR REPENTED............ SOOO THEN what's the point? What's the point? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Luke 16:19-31 The rich man requested that Lazarus be sent to cool his tongue and requested that Lazarus be sent to warn his brothers to repent..both requests were denied. Verse 26 -31a great gulf fixed. It also illustrates that once we cross over, thats it there are no more chances. No more prayers for the dead or baptism on behalf of the dead.. I pray that the Latter Day Saints search the holy scriptures concerning their soul salvation..

Mormonism teaches that the living are to be baptized for those who are dead, so they can accept the vicarious baptism in the spirit world. This is the biggest religious group that you will come across that will teach this view point. This is why they spend much time in genealogies so that they can look back and try to save those in their families who have already died that may not be saved. It is interesting that the Book of Mormon itself does not teach the baptism for the dead. In fact, the book of Mormon teaches the opposite that only the time in this life is given to repent and prepare to meet God. But in the book Doctrine and Covenants Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon religion claimed to receive a revelation that they should be baptized for the dead. This comes from his idea that “it is an unthinkable and immoral doctrine to admit that all those men who died or who will die without baptism are damned forever.” But the ability to baptize for those who have already died violates many biblical passages and biblical principles.

‭John 8:21 ESV‬ [21] So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.” If someone dies in his sin, there is no changing that. Jesus said where he is, the one who died in sin cannot come. Therefore, someone who is still living cannot be baptized for the one who died in his sins and change his state. It is impossible for Jesus to lie. Brother Williams made it clear when he used Luke 16 to prove that once someone dies, he goes to Hades and no one is crossing over between the two parts of Hades. Everything is fixed at death!

You're missing a whole lot of context. I love this group's love for the scripture, but you're missing quite a few things. He clarifies and adds more detail. "24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." If you know Jesus (the true Gospel), but you don't believe in who he says he is and have faith in him you will die in your sins. Jesus taught that BAPTISM is essential for salvation. If someone was not baptized on earth, did not hear the gospel, or were not baptized correctly, what will happen to them? The only way that ordinance can be performed is via proxy. We see this in 1 Cor 15 when Paul wrote in his letter, what is the point of baptism for the dead, if the dead do not rise? The dead do rise so the work is necessary.

  • @latoyacunningham6940

Hi! It's not that I'm missing context. It's that the context supports the Scripture I used already, so I didn't need to post a lengthy answer. Kind of like when Jesus was tempted, He didn't give Satan long answers, just straight-forward Scriptures. However, if you would like to discuss more, I am open to discussion.

If 1 Corinthians 13: 9-10 says this……. “For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬ and the “perfect” has come…which is Gods word The Bible….then why would we need anything other book…I.e. Book of Mormon?

Hello. It appears that you have misunderstood the meaning of the verses you quoted. This verse is not referring to scripture. I will leave you with these thoughts so you can ponder it. 1. In 1 Corr 5:9 Paul talks of a PREVIOUS letter about sexual morality. If the "scripture" is perfect, why isn't that letter in the bible? 2. 1st Corinthians and 2nd Corinthians are 2 different letters. They were written 1 year apart. So, if Paul said the scripture is perfect in 1 Corinthians, he would have never wrote the epistles a year later that we see in 2nd Corinthians. 3. If we look at the books written in chronological order (not in the order they were ordered in the new testament, we'll see that only Galatians, James, Hebrews, Mark, and Thessalonians were written before 1 Corinthians. If the scripture was perfect at the time 1 Corinthians was written, the rest of the books would have never been written. 4. The last book, John was written in 90's AD. The bible as we know it today wasn't officially put together and canonized via a vote until 382 AD. 5. Lastly read verse 12 carefully. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. You mentioned that the scripture is perfect even though the bible wasn't actually put together at the time 1 Corinthians was written. Let's go with that conclusion though. If it was perfect, why would Paul say that he and the church he was writing to at that time "see through a glass darkly"? If the scripture was perfect, they have everything they need. When we are "face to face" with the Father and Jesus Christ, "then they shall know". The dark glass will be removed. He ends the chapter by saying until then, continue in faith, charity, and hope. This chapter is all about the importance of charity, which is the pure love of Christ. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I second Bro. Ward's invitation to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it's true. Read it and let the holy Spirit lead you. If the spirit leads you to believe it's false, no harm, no foul. But I kmow for a surety it's true. If you read it genuinely and "ask" if it's true, God will reveal it unto you. Hope this helps and I look forward to your response.
