Part 2 - BMW e6x 5 & 6 Series Headlight Assembly issues - Repair, Testing, and Install

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Part 2 of the 2 part series on correcting issues with the BMW headlight Assembly on the 2009 650i that came to visit. The issues with the Xenon D1S main headlight turned out to be a bad Ballast caused by water entering the assembly as well as the insulation on the internal wiring had broken up so the wires were exposed. All fixed up and good to go again after some fairly easy repairs (at least it was clean to work on, LOL !) Thanks for watching and all the Best !!!

Thanks for the compliment ! I’ve thought about opening up a little shop one day after I retire from the regular job as it seems owners have a hard time finding folks to work on them when it’s non standard type issues. I actually called a friend that has a full time repair shop to see if he wanted to take this job, but he said he no longer works on BMWs as it’s so time consuming to repair and time waiting on replacement parts to arrive so it takes up his bays for too long. Thanks again and all the best ! Steve

@@StevesDIYs Nice man, you should. It’s a rare thing, I work on mine because it’s too expensive to fix and nobody wants to touch it. Rebuilding the headlight now those wires look the same ha ha

I have had 3 mechanics. say they wouldn't touch my head lights. I am so frustrated. Could i send you my head lights and have you do this exact thing.

Hey ! Yep, most don’t want to touch these if the wiring insulation has gotten too hot and started cracking. It would be hard to repair though without the car since they would need to tested to be sure they were working again unfortunately.
