Part 1Troubleshooting Repairing the Blower Fan Motor for AC/Heater Malfunctions

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A detailed guide on troubleshooting and repairing the blower fan motor for the AC/heater system in a 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV when it's not blowing:
1. *Check the Fuse:*
- Start by locating the fuse box, usually found under the dashboard or in the engine compartment.
- Check the fuse labeled for the HVAC system or blower motor. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same rating.
2. *Inspect the Blower Motor Relay:*
- Locate the blower motor relay in the fuse box.
- Test the relay by swapping it with a similar one in the fuse box or using a multimeter to check for continuity.
- If the relay is faulty, replace it with a new one.
3. *Test the Blower Motor Resistor:*
- The blower motor resistor regulates the fan speed. It's usually located near the blower motor under the dashboard.
- Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the resistor terminals. If there's no continuity, the resistor is likely faulty and needs replacement.
4. *Inspect the Blower Motor:*
- Access the blower motor, typically located under the dashboard on the passenger side.
- Check for any visible signs of damage, such as burnt wiring or a seized motor.
- Test the motor by applying power directly to it from the battery. If it doesn't spin, or if it spins irregularly, the motor may need to be replaced.
5. *Check the Wiring and Connections:*
- Inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the blower motor, resistor, and control panel.
- Look for loose, corroded, or damaged wires and connectors. Repair or replace any damaged components as necessary.
6. *Verify Control Panel Functionality:*
- Test the HVAC control panel to ensure all settings and functions are working correctly.
- If certain settings or functions are not responding, there may be an issue with the control panel itself.
7. *Consult Professional Assistance:*
- If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, or if you're unsure about performing the repairs yourself, it's recommended to seek professional assistance from a certified mechanic or HVAC technician.
By following these steps, you can effectively troubleshoot and repair the blower fan motor for the AC/heater system in your 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV when it's not blowing air.
The Fix It Yourself Channel provides informational guidance and tips on how to make minor repairs on your own. Its recommended that you have some mechanical background, working knowledge of the repair you are attempting to make. If you do not have the background and knowledge I recommend you do not attempt any of the repairs.

Clarence, Thank you so much for this video! it is the only one that I could find. I am in FL and it's very hot. I was quoted $500 at the dealer to fix it.... lol you have to be a little flexible but it got me ice cold air! Great video man! I appreciate you sharing and it's a simple fix to a big problem.... Now to anyone reading this, I had a Snowflake when I put my AC on and it stayed there. That told me is was not a computer issue. I read on forums other issues and resolutions but I did my homework. If your back AC works, AC seats too and your not getting air, this works. I changed both the motor and the resister because a mechanic friend of mine advised me that they work together and that I should do both. I paid $100.00 because used a promo code from Advanced Auto Parts for 25%. Thanks Clarence your the man!

Hey Clarence, i want to thank you brother for the video! My heat started acting up last summer 2019. It was like it wanted to come on when it got ready (switch already being on). Hit a pot hole in the street, it'd come! Close the door too hard, it'd come on! I need my heat in the winter! But ohhhh, this summer rolls around and now the AC is doing the same thing! I was thinking there was a short in the switch or something that turns the heater/AC on and off, but thanks to you, your video was the first one I clicked on! And long story short! Mine issue was the same problem as yours, and we have the exact same vehicle! Thanks again Clarence, great job! Hit me up, I'd like to return the favor!

If the blower is bad, would that stop power on the console, or is the ac control module something to look into
