    Why all the Woman hating / bashing - When my son graduated from Parris Island I had the honor of hearing Brigadier General Lori Reynolds address us parents and families, she is awesome, if you ever get the chance to hear her speak, jump on it. These women have signed up to give their lives to provide you with the freedom to bash them on the internet. They have endured hard training, had to work hard to get to Parris Island (which if I am not mistaken is a highly desired special assignment), have to on a daily basis overcome sexist attitudes, and have EARNED the right to be called United States Marines so show a little respect.

    Because you join the Corps to be a man, and only a man can make you a man. Unless life has been very kind to you as a child, some clerk on DI duty is not very useful in completing this task. marines are know as modern day Spartans and you do not build a Spartan, Zulu Warrior, or Viking with a split-tail screeching in your ear. Until a BAM (broad ass marine) can match a teen wrestler the she can go back to her desk and move paper! Its about war not "Let me have a turn playing hard" !

    when I was in the corps I heard several marines say parris island was downright pleasant compared to there neighborhoods in new York city,cleveland,boston or Miami,and at mcrd san diego where I attended boot camp I heard people from los angeles,san Francisco,oakland,houston texas,and Chicago say thay place was heaven compared to there old hoods.ive never been to parris island,i went to san diego,but ever since 1993 when I got out ive been a trucker,and ive been to all those cities and id have to agree.on the recruit depots they yell and take you to the pit,but at least your life isn't in danger,and at least on those recruit depots you have a warm bunk and decent food!

    And they were correct. Paris Island is about scrubbing brains so that you can fight & die for big business! Inner Cities are about living, leaving poverty, and progressing out of the confines built by the same people that create a need to enlist.

    I don't think the screaming, yelling is necessary to make someone a marine, i think thats point less your just wasteing your breath and energy how is it going to make a "GOOD SOLDIER!" by yelling most of the time instead of properly training them so they need to quit acting like hard asses and start being a real true leader that you can actually respect.

  • @USDD23

    @USDD23

    10 жыл бұрын

    These are Marines not soldiers. I promise you there is a difference. My leaders have no problem being called Marine. No officer in any other branch likes being called soldier. The screaming is vital to the training. During war you are not going to calmly ask for something or sternly gives orders. You will bark your orders to your Marines, yell for whatever you need all while gunshots, mortars and God forbid artillery is all around making any other noise almost impossible to hear. If you don't hear it right the first time there may not be a second time. The yelling from day one gets those recruits in the mindset to follow orders and be there best no matter what the stress is. So there is a reason for the yelling. It may just save your life one day.

    If someone can't handle a little bit of yelling, how are they going to handle the utter chaos called war? It's designed to train you to think about what you have to do despite the world erupting around you. It works.

    I get what your saying and when your in a combat zone most likely you are going to be yelling at certain times but not in every situation though. But still yelling in somebodys face makeing them keep repeating something like yes sir! isn't going to save your LIFE! so what iam saying is the DI's need to do less yelling and spend more time teaching them to be able to defend themselfs like hand to hand combat training or something else and iam not saying start whispering but just LESS yelling and all it is. Is to just put on a show and you know it you want to make them break down and make them mad and scared of the DI's thats all, jezzz what are you going to do shout the enemy to death! with your mouth and i see nothing wrong calling a marine a soldier because thats what they are and they should respect that too because, i see nothing wrong their.

    Dillon Williams It isn't all yelling, there is genuine training going on there. My son was there 2 years ago. He is the youngest of 5, had never been yelled at or had it rough. He never shot a gun and was never in a fight. He had been pampered and coddled his whole life and was / is a good kid. I thank God for the DI's that yelled and the training he received it will keep him alive. Since his graduation he has served in a combat zone and he was well prepared to do so. Just thought you should know how people and families who have actually been there feel. By the way if you ever get the chance to attend a graduation ceremony at Parris Island, do it!!

    Dillon Williams, until you actually go through Marine Corps boot camp the purpose of the yelling and the amount will always elude you. The irony in all this is this short one minute video barely shows the night you arrive on the island. It doesn't even begin to show the rest of receiving week or the other 12 weeks of training that follow. Also again a Marine IS NOT a soldier. A soldier is defined as someone who is in the military, mostly the army, and fights on the land. A Marine is someone who serves in the military, always in my United States Marine Corps, and is trained to fight on land, a ship, and assault from the sea. We are the only branch trained to be the overall fighting force for America. An admin guy in the Army is admin. An admin guy in the Marines is still an admin guy but is first a rifle men. I can promise you no matter what logic you can think of I can disprove. I did not spend 13 weeks in boot camp, and 11 years serving my country to be told I am the same as some soldier.

    Female DI's are for the 4th Bn (female recruits). They help during in-processing, but they train the female recruits during the training phases.

    Glad I went to San Diego, I wouldn't be able to take the female DI seriously. In the south I was raised to never let a woman yell at me, so it would have been very difficult to deal with that.

    Ughh.. Why can't women understand that they aren't intimidating haha I'd be much more scared if a big male with a deep voice screamed at me.. Those women sound like my mom.

    The yelling is completely over done... There's being tough and giving a recruit shit when they fuck up, that's to be expected. Yelling at someone excessively does not make them a better soldier nor a smarter soldier.

    Nils Swinamer, The yelling serves different purposes. One such purpose is to create a sense of disorientation as if one were in combat. The yelling may be jarring at first, but it seems to be working. - Lance Cpl. Filipowicz
