Parotta, Kerala Parotta Recipe, Make it easy parotta recipe at home. Parotta is the most popular street food among south India, and you can find parotta stalls across the street at stone's throw away distance. A very easy homemade parottas recipe made from scratch. Malabar parotta is a very renowned and popular bread in Kerala and Tamilnadu. This soft and flaky parotta, also known as barotta or porotta, Madurai parotta and Kerala paratha.
Parotta recipe is roughly similar to the Laccha paratha in northern India. But in parotta recipe, Maida flour replaces the wheat flour and kneading and making of parotta need patience. At the end, time worth spent on Parotta, as the crunchy outside parotta layer, mushy and soft layer parotta inside. Parotta pairs well with mutton gravy or chicken gravy as usually know as salna, but not less with vegetable kurma. Even with this base of the parotta recipe, you can try on kothu parotta and chilli parotta.
There are so many methods in making of parotta, beating and spreading, throwing the dough in air to make it thin, but it's all expert level of parotta making, respect them but it doesn't work for me. This homemade parotta recipe is simple and the parota turns out flaky and soft. In this video recipe, we shared two methods of parotta making, whichever parotta method is convenient for you, just go with it and make the awesome parotta at home.

All purpose flour (Maida) 2 Cups
Semolina (Sooji) 1 Tbsp
Salt
Sugar(Powdered) 1 Tsp
Butter 2 Tsp

We used to order this from very nearby Kerala Restaurant weekly once while we were in Sharjah. Now I know how to make them after watching this video. 😊

Thank you for the visit and comment! Comparing to poori and chole bhature, parotta consume one third of the oil. Parotta need more oil during the preparation to bring its elastic nature, but we cannot see the poori or chole bhature's oil consumption as it's soaked and deep fried in gallons of oil. More recipes to come, stay connected 😊😊😊 And one more hint, you can always cut down the oil, but the result may vary, here I followed the original recipe to present to viewers, and I don't want the influence of my diet theory to modify the original recipe. Oil is each ones personal preference, but the result is based on the balance of ingredients.

People call it as Malabar Parota , kerala parota etc. But this is a parota you get everywhere in South India Kerala, TN , AP and KA. We south indians call it parota. I mean entire south india.Whereas in north it is called Lacha parota but that is totally different way of preparation. It tastes amazing and liked by western world too. One drawback with this is the oil content which could be reduced through experience. It can also be made with whole wheat flour if you dont want to use maida. Also some people add egg and some dont . So this is a ideal dish even for vegetarians too. I love the way this is presented. I hope you will come up with more dishes like this.

Thanks a ton .. I tried this and it came out really well.. I did add sugar directly without powdering it.. still worked fine.. 100% veg.. served it with Veg Kurma.. my family loved it too.. 🥰

Very nicely elaborated.. can we make dough in evening and left it till you added oil in paira/dough balls and leave it overnight for 8 to 10 hrs and then prepare parotta in morning..will it effect outcome

Must be Softer than chappati dough. *Use generous amount of oil to get perfect layers. *After making spirals, use your palm to spread parottas. *Toast them on medium high flame.
