What Created This Monster’: Parkland School Shooter Gives Brain to Science
Ойын-сауық
The convicted mass shooter who killed 17 people and injured 17 more at a Florida high school has agreed to give his brain to science after he dies. This comes after the Parkland shooter settled a civil lawsuit with a survivor, who now owns the rights to the gunman’s name. The attorney representing survivor Anthony Borges said he hopes scientists may be able to shed light on “what created this monster.” Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks it down.

I tried to point this out during the trial regarding fetal alcohol syndrome and other pregnancy related defects. HIs mother was a known substance abuser, and it's obvious to anyone who has a pair of eyes the Parkland Shooter was mentally impaired. I'm not saying he shouldn't be locked up, because he's clearly a danger to society. But there are definitely mitigating factors in this case. I think he belongs in a psych ward, not prison.
@DavidBaker-cx1ni

"Mentally impaired," are you basing your statement on his visual appearance?
@TheBerylknight
15 күн бұрын
@@DavidBaker-cx1ni No. I'm basing it primarily on his obvious social and behavioral problems. That and the fact his mother had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse and is known to have drank heavily while she was pregnant with him. The defense called multiple witnesses who confirmed these facts; including a top researcher who examined Cruz and concluded he had fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
@DavidBaker-cx1ni
12 күн бұрын
TheBerylknight, I've tried to response to your comment without any luck, maybe it's algorithms that's keeping me silent. Fetal alcohol syndrome sounds likely to me. I mentioned the lengthy Wikipedia entry on Nikolas which failed to mention Linda Cruz's desperate multitudinous efforts to get help for him. In addition, she made panicky calls to Law Enforcement regarding his threatening behavior to no avail. Regarding the cataclysmic event which just took place, I wonder if Nikolas and Thomas Crooks availed themselves of the same firearm sites.

E = mc2 🤑 wtf
The lack of morality in addition with the lack of empathy. They don’t feel sadness but understand the appropriate times “act” sad and they know exactly how to sell it. Because of this combination they typically see opportunities where there are none, For example, A normal person is looking for a “regular” parking spot and sighs when a neighbor has the best one. Someone missing those traits will see the same situation and decides to ask for the spot nicely with “or else” as the undertone. They then sabotage and destroy that person’s property until they get the spot. That exact behavior branches into someone in this situation, one of their relatives is sick and they think it’s serious. When being brought to a room they are told all of the rooms are full. If given the opportunity they will pull someone’s life support and note “That room is free now”. This leads us here, In school there’s popular kids all around and it’s obviously they’re smart and loved. They’re going somewhere in life but where does that leave you? The realization dawns an option “Because I’m not going anywhere I’m going to prevent them from going anywhere” They go on and shoot up a school fueled by the feeling that was created from the forementioned realization without remembering why. There’s just jealousy and hate. It shouldn’t take a lot to push those troubled kids/teens to do something like this as they simply lack the emotional stability and realistic mindset to accept how things are. I survived these kind of monsters. They don’t care about you, They never cared about you and you were always a ladder to them and nothing else. If the truth comes out they know exactly what to say to spin it, exactly what to do to change the narrative and only when they are faced with their secrets/crimes being exposed in a meaningful way to an audience that has power over them-will they ever admit to it. Then they admit something is wrong and they just want to virtue signal as it’s their only option until prison or death, at least until another opportunity comes out

In this particular case, the culprit had a caring adoptive mother who was confronted with his never ending disruptive behavior and frantically tried to get help for him to no avail. The police were aware of his threatening behavior. His birth mother was an alcoholic and a drug addict, and thus, the speculation regarding fetal alcohol syndrome.

True Crime sweethearts should read the Wikipedia article regarding the perpetrator although no mention is made of the agony his adoptive mother suffered.
Usual suspect
Couldn’t disagree more…i have brain damage from “repeated childhood head trauma “ and i have no desire to hurt anyone..

Why call this broken person a monster? How was his upbringing? The home is where it all starts

Many “broken people” who also experienced traumatic upbringings don’t go on to commit school shootings or injure/kill others.
Okay, but we already know: Crappy parents who refused to PARENT.
