Parkland Formula for Burns: Adult & Pediatric Fluid Resuscitation [Nursing]
Parkland formula for burns made easy! Example fluid resuscitation for adults & pediatrics! Practice for nursing, USMLE, NCLEX, and more!
The Parkland formula is 4mL x Body Weight (kg) x TBSA (%).
The equation is used in burn patients to calculate the total amount of recommended crystalloid fluids to be given in the first 24 hours after a burn injury.
We also review how to calculate TBSA with the Rule of Nines, Lund and Browder Chart, and the Palmar/Hand method!

Getting a head start is always good! Best of luck on getting your degree! 😊
Watching this sitting in the burns ward wondering how they figured out my burn coverage
❤
This doesn't explain very much how to compute for pediatric patients. Do you only use parkland formula for more than 20%?

20% on adults and 10% for children and elderly patients. Both are considering if the patient has deep partial thickness burns (second degree) and full thickness (3rd degree) burns, not 1st degree.
