I lived in an apartment in Irving, Texas where we had covered parking and assigned spots. I was told when I moved in that if I came home and someone was in my spot, call the tow truck - number on the signs all over the property. It happened one time and I did not call. I parked around the corner in the non-covered parking they had for guests and extra vehicles. I found the guy the next day who had parked in my spot and asked him not to do that again. I explained the assigned spots, he was a new resident. He asked why I didn't just park in one of the other covered spots. I said if I did that, whoever rents that spot would probably have me towed because I was too nice to have you towed. I was as polite about it as I could be and he was still grumpy. He never parked there again though. I would have had him towed instantly if I saw his car in my spot again. He was kind of a jerk when I went out of my way to park further away, to save him the towing fee and inconvenience. I was thinking, just do it again, I dare you.

Same thing happened to me when I lived in Plano... except I had the car towed... I think its insulting for someone else one to park in clearly marked assigned parking.

@@teezee1000 I knew it belonged to a new neighbor, so I gave him one chance. If I'd known he would get pissy about it when I asked him not to do that, I would have just called the towing company and avoided talking to him at all. When you go out of your way to give someone a break and they act like YOU'RE the asshole it can make you almost hope they mess up again so they'll see what happens.

Geez! No. 347 should have had the title of Ay Caramba!! As I understood from what the lady said, her parking spot was illegally occupied so she was given the "Ok" to park where the truck was towed then she says she was only parked for an hour to take a shower (not in those exact words). It sucks to live in an apartment complex that has parking spots and you don't understand the parking regulations as a paying resident of said complex. My daughter rents from an apartment complex in Texas and I made sure she learned the parking regulations so that her car doesn't get towed. There's no excuses for ignorance if the each apartment complex have parking rules.

My wife and I paid $75/year for parking passes at our complex. Come to find out it was never enforced, only some of the cars had the stickers.. when we asked about it, they said management had changed and there was never any parking pass for the complex. Showed them the paper work, receipts and rhey still didn't care. The place absolutely robbed us. They claimed around $600 in damages that never occurred. They found the clear cap to some spray bottle atop of the cabinets above the fridge and charged us $15 to throw it away. My wife and I are too short to even see up there, wasn't ours. Anyways, they still charged us. We tried to fight it to np avail. The charges are still on our credit years later because we simply cannot afford it. Absolute theft.

The best I could understand, she has an assigned parking space which someone else parked in. The solution is to call the office or got to the office and tell them someone parked in your space and ask them where you can park meanwhile until the problem is remedied. It would also be good to put a note on your dash stating that someone else parked in your spot and the office said you could park in this space temporarily. You don't just go and park in a striped zone. That is not the solution. Towtrucker, you are certainly a type B personality - very understanding and very patient.

Someone parks in a disabled bay without the placard/disability and they don't get ticketed/towed - is it OK for others to try the same and hope they don't get ticketed/towed?

I worked security at an apartment complex that was mostly students and right next door was a club that could accommodate 200-300 people but not that many cars. Friday and Saturday I had probably 20-25 vehicles towed each night. I always stuck around in case they gave the two truck driver any trouble. There often was trouble and I enjoyed having to get between the driver and the douche bag.

that is one of the biggest parking problems living in apartments, visitors don't like to park in visitor parking. Had someone tell me they can park in my spot once and would not move I had a big heavy truck and pulled out a chain and said move it or I will they called the police and got told they had to move off the property because it was not the first time and to quit bothering residents.

Wow! Another of my pet peeves! Someone parking so as to block the cut-out access used by those using wheelchairs to get up a curb and onto a sidewalk. Good on you for your patience, but people need to learn those are put there for a reason. What if there was an emergency in one of those units wherein an EMS crew and gurney had to get in? Yep, that's another time when those cut-outs come in handy as they can get the gurney in and out faster; thus, possibly, saving a life.
