I noticed how the video states that the vehicle driving through the parking lot at ANY speed has right of way. That's all these young, immature, reckless drivers need to hear. I see them speeding through the parking lots all the time. At the end of the day , every driver is required to avoid an accident. Now my focus is about parking when I go to the Walmart or grocery store. I try to park in a way that I can avoid backing into a moving lane , because I don't trust others anymore, to use caution.

Several times. Once I was shopping in the supermarket while somebody else evidently hit my car in the parking lot. I came out of the supermarket to find a nice big dent in my left fender. Hit and run. Another time I had just started my car (transmission still in park) when an SUV pulled out of its parking space and kept backing until it hit the rear of my car even though I had blasted my horn. When we exchanged license and insurance information, the driver told me that she had been talking on her handheld cell phone and didn't hear my horn or see my car. But the worst one happened while I was asleep. Someone hit my car in the parking lot so hard that when I woke up the next morning, I saw that they had pushed my car out of its parking space. No witnesses and no notes. Hit and run.

Oh wow, I'm sorry all of these incident happened to you. Thank you for sharing your experiences. What state do you reside in? Were you able to use your Uninsured Motorist coverage to handle the hit and run accidents?

Happened to me today. Was backing out of a parking spot and was the first one to start backing out and a decent amount out of my parking spot but stopped mid-way to allow 2 pedestrians to cross the parking lot to my left behind me. And in that time, this other vehicle backed in from behind me across from his parking spot. I had honked my horn a couple of times to let him know I was there, but he didn't see and hear me and still backed into me. I wasn't moving when he backed into me and I saw him coming and I couldn't quickly throw it in drive and drive back into my parking spot to avoid him, it was happening all to quickly. Thinking, he might see/hear me, but he didn't. It was but a small tap to the back of my right corner bumper. Don't really see any damages to his or my vehicle. So we let it slide, shook hands and went our separate ways.

I feel for ya. Same thing happened to me today, other driver reversed without looking properly, then claimed I was the one at fault, became very aggressive. 😔

@mikesmith8187 Yeah, it was kinda like that with me and him, but he was claiming that we were both in motion and backed into each other. Well, if that was true, then he would've known I was there. And I wasn't moving, I sat there with my foot on the break and saw him come at me. And I really couldn't move out of the way quick enough and throw my car back into drive and drive back into my parking spot. 1, it was all happening too fast despite the 2-3-maybe 4 mph in that short distance. 2, I'm driving an old 1998 Volvo S90 where I can't really be too aggressive with it and mess up the gearbox. So there was no way I was gonna be able to avoid it. And there was no point arguing with him that it was him who was at fault. It would just be one of those he said she said arguments of us both saying it was the other guy at fault. He was a much big dude than me and I didn't want this to become a big long ordeal for something so minor when I just wanted to go home from a long day.

Literally going through this right now. I completely back out and was at a complete stop putting my car in drive as I see the car behind/across/next to me at this point bc I’m almost completely straight and stopped start backing up I’m at a complete stop blowing my horn steadily nonstop to which the other driver (15yr old with only a permit no license driver with him) backs in and crushes the back side panel above my back wheel with the tire that hung on the back of his jeep. He is trying to say we were both backing up at the same time. Which thankfully there was a camera from one of the businesses that caught the whole thing in which I get to pick up tomorrow to prove exactly what I said happened was in fact true. The police report put the other driver as vehicle one but I know he can tell his insurance whatever he wants and it’s my word against his so THANKFUL that I have a video of it proving his fault. I feel bad for ppl going thru this and having to deal with someone who would Be lying to try to avoid fault. Should I get a lawyer or just turn in video to both insurances

Today I was driving out of a parking lot, at a speed of 5-10 km per hour. Slow and a car who was front parked, backed up into my car. He ended up hitting the front side of my passenger door. I believe that he is 100% at fault since I had the right of way in the road, He tried to argue that he was already halfway out of the parking spot yet I am driving perfectly straight on the path and did not swerve in the pictures. He also tried to argue that I was not paying attention in order to share the blame, but my eyes were on the road until I saw the lights of his car light up and the moment that he crashed into the side of my car. Are pictures enough to prove that I am not at fault? The dents made by the car show that there are no drag marks which means i wasnt speeding, and are a clear sign of impact.

Hey, I'm sorry that this happened to you. Pictures of your front passenger side door should be sufficient to prove that the other driver is 100% at fault since the damage is to the side of your vehicle.

What if I was backing out of my parking space, but the person on the parking drive way passed a parking and decided to reverse to get into the parking. While we were both reversing, both cars hit. Who would be found at fault.?

LOL you'd think this is how it would work, but I got backing into while I was driving down the parking lot and I was told that I was 20% at fault because I was driving too quietly and didn't honk my horn to signal I was in the parking lot

@@theinsurancequotientiq167 he floored back into the drivers side wheel, and hit me with enough force that my car bounced and he ended up scraping down the entire drivers side of the car. He even admitted fault, and said he was looking at his iPad, but because I didn't record him saying that they had no way of verifying if it was true or not.

@@kb_shaw3245 Oh wow yeah, I'm definitely sorry you had to go through that. You were definitely dealing with an adjuster who either was a novice who just got their license, or an adjuster who had a manager breathing down their necks to find a way to deny a claim to prevent payment (Yes at times corporate and management do this). If you still have the damage on your vehicle or pictures of the damage, and depending on when the accident took place ( due to statute of limitations) you can always appeal the decision with your own insurance company, other the other drivers insurance company. I know you don't want to file a claim on your policy given that the accident wasn't your fault, but that would be the only way they can legally get involved on your behalf. Any other physical evidence that you can present to either insurance company would also help ie. independent witness, video. Based on what you are telling me though ( and I'd ask more questions if I was actually working this claim) but it seems to me that you were not at fault.

i was in a situation yesterday. i was parked and there was a very tall and very long pick up truck to my right . i was facing west and backing out so that the rear of mycar would be facing south once i pulled out and drove. anyway. i looked both ways with my head turned before pulling out. there was nothing. i started pulling out very slowly and still nothing. i was at least half way out still not seeing anything then suddenly felt a bump but didn't even see the car. i quickly looked to the car parked dirctly behind me that was staionary it didnot appear to me that i was close enough to it to have hit it. then somehow i readjusted and got out. andnotice behidn me 1 or 2 spaces over behind me there was in fact a car sticking about 3 feet out that wasn't lke htat when i pulled out i also noticed there was someone in the drivers seat. i suspect this had to be the car. and they likely startedd pulling out a second or 2 after i already started. however because i was very ocncerent about htat reallyl long pick up to my right. i was blancing over there a litle more at that moment t make sure id din't hit it with the front of my car. i twas my rear bumper and I could almst not evn see anythingalmost at all. i could feel a very very slight indent in a small 8 inches roughse secon but you can't notic eit. almost. and it was on the right side of my bumper theut totally the back. so what is the situation for me. and i was backingout very slowly. should i be worried about other damage? i did open andclose my trunk fine after this. but i am tryingto figure out if i should make claim and get itfixed or not

Hey I'm sorry you had to go through this. From what you are saying your vehicle still operates just fine and there is minimal damage to your car is that correct? Second point, was there damage to another car or piece of property that you hit?

@@theinsurancequotientiq167 i honestly don't know, the car that i think may have bee the other one, pulled out and started driving. now a car did follow me for a while that coul dhave been the same car, but then it may not have either. i didn't get a good look. i did have a plice come by in the morning and just did a service report for the time being. they said nobody else called in a report about anything. that leads me even more to beliee it wsa th eother person's fault. as for damage. it is the rear bumper and a litle maybe 5x8 inch section. well i mean i don't know the exact dimensions but the spot that appears like i can barely see something is the not much bigger then an old flip phone roughtly. and i can silghtly feel an indientation on the plaistic bumper. the trunk seemed to open and close fine. i just know i have heard that there could always be thigns you don't see. although that may be more prevelent from a front bumper impact? that is really my concern.

@@Johnadams20760 Hey from the description of your incident, it sounds like no one else has come forward to put in a police report for any damages to their vehicle. As for the damages to your vehicle, if your tail gate opens up fine and you only see a minor dent, I think you vehicle is ok. I wouldn't suspect there to be any underlying damage from that impact.

@@theinsurancequotientiq167 oh ok. i guess i had always heard there could be allighment issues you don't know about even on less then 5mph although it was the rear bumper. but i would say it is minor. i mean if it ocurred when i wasn't in the car and din't know about it. i wouldn't even know anything was there. now that i have looked at it 100 x i can see it but only becasue iknow exactly what i am looking at. and i can open/close the trunk fine. sort of sucks though just has tthat entire bumper rplaces six months ago. insurnace paid for it that time i was literally in my car parked eating a pizza slice. the guy behind me just kept backing up and not even attmpteing to turn his cur. it left scuff marks. this doen's realy have that honestly. still can't figure it out. i am fairly sure someone must have backed out real quick when i was alreayd sticking out and still going back like they didn't look . i mean i didn't even see it becaue i was looking the opposite direclty due to that long truck . soudns like i should be ok

What would happen if the driver was not on the car insurance?

  • @theinsurancequotientiq167

Hey, If the driver of the other vehicle was not on the car insurance, the insurance adjuster that is assigned to the case will look to contact the owner of the vehicle and confirm that the driver had permission to drive the vehicle. If they did have permission and the other driver is found to be at fault, then the other insurance company will handle your damages.
