Thanks man! The install directions for mine say " Do NOT simply ground the parking brake detect wire to a metal portion of the vehicle to bypass the feature". So, I was like, they are trying to tell me how to bypass it without being liable but I wanted to check before I did it so I searched and found your video. Thanks

also worked with power acoustik unit pd-344B. I ran a ground wire straight from the negative terminal of the battery and now I have movies. thank you very much man.

Hello Adam, a big thank's from France! it works! for those who wonder if the trick still works on newer version of 2017 Pioneer avh the answer is yes. I have just installed a brand new avh-z7000dab in my 1998 honda prelude, I have clamped the red clip wich is on the light green parking brake wire on the black ground wire of the cigarette lighter and that's it. work's fine now.

For anyone curious, i have since finished my system install, and have since found a bolt/nut to ground the wire behind the radio. No more electrical tape. Tape was just for ease of recording. Glad to see this video helped people!

slyt ssj will that drain my battery then while the ignition is off and the vehicle is sitting? I’m not sure if mine will work with just grounding via tape yet, but since that is the two-second fix that’s what I would like to do.

Now, I have two questions regarding this. 1 - If you had a head unit that had an attached backup cam in mind, would that fudge with it? Basically would the backup cam simultaneously think it's both in park and reverse, screwing up the whole thing? 2 - I think I understand why you have the less than optimal asthetic choice, but on the off chance I'm wrong, is there a way you can reliably ground the parking wire while keeping the head unit inside the dash?

Ok Iv looked all over KZread and u explained it well... I did it for my Pioneer AVH-P4900DVD single din 6.5 wide screen unit and it worked... but when I unplugged the harness and moved it and tried it again it won't work... can u help me fix it?

Thanks for the feedback! I have chosen the Pioneer for the simple fact of sound quality. a $250 headunit sounds better than a $150 headunit- obviously, although i loved how the Power Acoustik flipped up. Definitely got a lot of compliments. if you're going to impress people, and want okay sound quality that's the way to go. I now have a double din touchscreen Pioneer, and i personally love how clean it looks in my dash, and it also sounds so much better. Much clearer and louder. It's all personal opinion and what you can and cannot afford though. Hope I answered your question thoroughly!

just in case this helps anyone, check to see if the cable says parking because i was grounding a brown cable that wasn't the parking break and caused a blue screen. this should work just use the parking cable and don't go by color.

Just splice it into the head units ground wire. Done.

One thing I don’t recommend is grounding it on your cigarette lighter because it blew so many fuses it almost caught my truck on fire. You might be able to get away with it depending on what your cigarette lighter calls for but mine was too small wire for what the ground was.

hey bro the easiest way I figured out how to do it it just take the pink wire and screw it to the back of the unit and ground it that's all you got to do just screw it to the back of the unit and it'll work all day everyday

You never ground a parking brake to the actual head unit. Grounding the park brake switch, only works on low grade dvd players (boss, Jensen, power acoustik, etc). Name brand units (Kenwood, Alpine, jvc, etc) require a pulsed relay to trigger the park brake sensor.

Easier way is to hook it up to your stereo ground wire.i always do it to indashes when i install them and it works perfect. Plus you wont has to worry about electrical tape unpealing over time

+Yvette Quinones It should be labeled. if not look up your stereo make and model and check the wiring diagram. On most cheap stereos the wire color is typically Black, brown or tan I believe, these are the ones that you can easily bypass by hooking up to stereo ground wire. Some other high end stereos have a green wire with black dots or even a pink wire.the higher end stereos aren't easily bypassed, you have to hook them up to a switch or relay of some sort like in the video
