What is needed is an adjustable angle truck. So can quickly change using a standard skate tool.

Are the hangers compatible with older style paris baseplates? What is the reason for the smoother feel? Thanks!

Am I the only one who does not keep jumping dancing and doing tricks with his longboard and in the videos just want to see how it rides smoothly around (pushing, pumping)?

Im Putting together my first longboard and i was jw if these trucks will need risers to fit a 70 mm wheel just dont want the wheels rubbing the top of my board.

Hey Dan - that all depends. What board are you setting it up with. Most of the time you'll get the clearance with the Paris V3 and 70mm wheel combo, but it's dependent on the board you're riding.

You probably won't need risers as Paris trucks are the highest trucks out there. From the actual board to where the wheel fits its pretty far. Now if you talk about calibers you need risers. 43 Paris are still higher than 50 calibers. I love calibers. Of course course if you want to have a less lengthy push go with calibers. I've had PV2, PV3 and Caliber 2s... I gotta say my Calibers broke right down the middle. My V2 are still good... I no bend or crack.. I'm not sponsor by Paris just stating my experience. Calibers are definitely more stable though. But with the right bushing set up you can make your V3s just as stable... My only complain is that Paris push is lengthy from the board to the floor. other than that I've never had a problem.

What's the difference between putting your trucks on normal or "backwards" like skateboards vs longboards?

can be a bit lower if you reversed them, but it may cause issue, and might not be possible unless the trucks are 'raked' :? ie. some trucks cannot turn the other way, I THINK ;/ saw some videos on it, but they said it's specific to the truck they were reviewing and involved the term 'raking'

Would these in 180mm be good for a cruiser board that’s a 9.25-9.75?

  • @-zoave-

Personnally I ride 180mm on a 9" freeride board (Powell Mini Byron), it's a little too wide, the wheels exceed the board a little, but that's ok, even on slides, my feet never touch the wheels, on my Moonshine Sidekick 9.3", it's a little better, even if the wheels still exceed a little the board. On my other boards, like the Prism Hindsight 9.75", 180mm trucks are perfect, the wheels are flush to the board. So I think these 180mm Paris would be nice for a cruiser board around 9.75". Maybe go with the 165mm for the 9.25" if you don't want the wheels exceed the board.

They recently came out with 165mm meant for 9" board width. While the 180 is for 9.6" width boards. I got this info from Paris by emailing them. I suggest you do so as well to know for sure

Which paris trucks will carve well on a surfskate?

  • @originalskateboards

Are you thinking of rocking those as a carvier back truck? Most surf skates use a pivot up from with a traditional kingpin (TKP) type truck in the back so Paris would for sure be carvier / divier than that. Depending on WHICH surf skate you have they might be higher also (although that also depends on whether your back truck uses a riser as it stands right now). Long story short swapping your back truck on a Surf Skate depends on the hardware setup. Personally I would prefer something like a Paris back there just because Surf Skates have barely any lean (which is very un-surfboard like) so they don't do a good job simulating the rail to rail carving that happens on a surfboard. They DO do a good job with top to bottom surfing like you might find on a steeper dumpier more hollow wave. Not sure that's an answer but let me know if we can help haha _Scott

Hey Chris -- what board are you thinking about putting them on? What's your weight/height? A good place to start is the Radius SataRides (for wheels) with Bones Reds Bearings and the Paris V3. If you wanted to go high end...same setup by swap to Cell Ceramics for the bearings with 4 Prez 70mm 77a for wheels.

1:10 is a lie. The v3 is actually more havy than the v2 because the hanger is thicker. Its more durable yes and bends less but in the v2 i only had bending issues in the axles not the hanger itself. But again the total weight of the v3 is more, it is Not Lighter!!!

Eh. I think one thing that reviews (maybe this one included?) get wrong is that really its a single perspective on a single product. In most cases (trucks in particular) the way you tune the truck is HUGELY influenced by how you want to ride and your specific style. It would be weird to force aspects of the product on guys who don't normally ride in whatever style. Obviously Paris can be tuned to DH too, it's just about perspective and what you want to do with the thing, while appreciating that probably multiple reviews and perspectives should be taken into account before expecting any sort of full view of what any component is capable of (if then!). At the end of the day the only real way to know is to ride it yourself and see if it fits your style. Everything else is just for fun to keep us all entertained during lockdown. Cheers dude! _Scott
