Bear Longboard trucks (180mm) REVIEW | Better than Paris V3?

Спорт

WHATS POPPIN! I decided to talk about the two types of longboard trucks that I've had the most experience with: Bear trucks and Paris trucks. I've been a huge fan of the Paris V2's for over four years, and have found nothing comparable. But, I recently picked up another board that came installed with these bear trucks, and I've found them to be quite surprising. Keep watching to learn more ;).

    If you happen to run across this video…Bear is now at gen 6. They are a total redesign from gen 5.

    I heard diffently. The Paris v2 and v3 are very similar. The baseplated of different angles plates now match on the v3. The pivot cup urethane is better on the v3. And the v3 truck is slightly stronger but weighs less. Overall design, bushing seat, and most other structural things are similar. However, bear 852 and bear gen 6 have a HUGE difference between them. Gen 6 id a much better upgrade all around. Caliber 2 has been greatly mproved in caliber 3

    I have a boosted V2 dual+, two longboards, and two park decks. I have basically binged all of your vids over the last week or two and I swear you're gonna cost me dude. I now want... No.. NEED a loaded deck in my life (that isn't on an electric setup lol). Until the boosted, which I got used back in the spring, I hadn't ridden a loaded deck. I knew it was something special immediately, that flex is so incredible. Stumbled across your channel and between this channel and riding my boosted board I'm dangerously close to pulling the trigger on an Icarus once they get back in stock! Anywho man amazing videos seriously keep it up! Edit to add: I have caliber II trucks on both of the setups I mentioned. You can flip the hanger on those too to swap between 50 degree (more for carving/cruising) and 44 degree (more for downhill/stability). I live in a very hilly area, there's a hill near my house where according to my phone for GPS I hit 35 to 38 mph, and have got 41 even on a run where I tucked and tried to really fly. At the 44 degree setup those trucks are stable as heck even at those speeds.

    Well I’m glad you like the videos! And Loaded boards are seriously awesome! Plus they don’t lose a whole lot of value over time which is great. Didn’t know about the calibers being reversible but that’s great to know! Keep enjoying your boards while it’s still summer! :D

    Also, standard kingpin trucks hide the kingpin under the axle for grinds whereas most reverse trucks stick farther out from the axles

    4 of my 5 boards have Paris RKP trucks & 149 TKP on my commuter Dbl Drop deck. On the Tan Tien which hardly gets rode, I put some older leftover Bear 180 Gen 5 w/ 43 degree plates, orig on a top mount DH board when lived in Tacoma area. Going to try flipping hangers w/ the Bears like you showed for the Tan Tien & might carve better! Thanks a bunch for all the great info. - RIDE On.

    Cool vid... Question you gave the weights for the V2 and V3. You mentioned the Bears are lighter, would be curious to hear the numbers, did you weigh them? Also just wanted to drop in that the V3s come in a gloss and matte black. Nice job, keep the vids coming.

    Thanks! Yeah my bad, I should’ve weighed the bears in the video...they are a little over a pound for both, so around 460ish grams, whereas the Paris are about double that, coming in at around 920grams, or 2.08ish pounds. You can definitely feel the difference while carrying the boards around!

    I got both trucks. Gen 6 Bears & Paris V3. Had to tighten down the Bears a bit more but can’t really tell the difference. But did notice the one with Paris does seem to weigh more.

    I’m interested in building a super stable cruiser. I’d be interested to know if 72mm wheels could be fitted to a cruiser board in the conventional fashion beneath the board. Obviously wheel bite is the issue. High risers or stiff bushings or super wide trucks? As an older rider I just want to cruise safely and that’s my objective with these questions 🤔

  • @OgdenSikel

    @OgdenSikel

    Take a look at the landyachtz dinghy turbo king for inspiration. That cruiser has 72mm wheels and gets virtually zero wheelbite.

    Ogden Sikel it uses relatively low (54mm) polar bear trucks, so it must use very hard bushings or some other techniques because looking at the specs it should be wheel bite city.

    Civan LFC what is the shape of your longboard? (Drop through, pintail, cruiser-esque, etc) if it’s like my boards in this video, they’ll fit. Sabre trucks are very good and very expensive, so they should be good on most boards.
