Parashat Shemot 5784 : The Power of Good

As the Book of Exodus opens, we find the Children of Israel fruitful and multiplying in the Land of Egypt, despite the cruel death decree of Pharaoh. Pharaoh's obsession with the Israelite babies reflects a cosmic theme of the struggle between forces of good and evil....a conflict that continues to this day, in which we all play a part, and upon which the final Redemption depends....
The Torah portion of Shemot (Exodus 1 : 1 - 6 : 1) is read on Shabbat, Tevet 25, 5784 - January 6, 2024

My baby and I listened to this while he was feeding. We especially enjoyed the lessons about babies and their purpose in this world as a new life sent by HaShem himself. ❤

Dear Rabbi Richman, Loved the line you drew through each of Moshe's acts of standing for justice. Very powerful! The desire of Yah to have babies enrich the world and us is felt even more accutely, with the growing painful attacks on innocence in today's world. One thing about those Egyptians, they were in the habit of sacrificing to the Nile (whom they diafied), but to force other people to sacrifice to the Nile was a bridge too far! Praises to HaShem for the Moshes, and the sister of pharaoh types in our world today. We need more of them!!

And I think that the first (be fruitful, and multiply) may be the most important, the most valuable for a path to a happy life.

Beautiful, thank you Rabbi. Small acts of kindness should be our way of life. The opportunities to do these are not always available so we must be aware when they become possible then act accordingly.

The human creation in my opinion was put here to fight the evil in this world which he created. We are the creators army. The enemy knows this. Nothing has changed since. Great sermon Rabbi.
