What Is Yom Kippur?

A Special Message for Yom Kippur
Yom Kippur, the awesome Day of Atonement, is a day of great spiritual power, healing, forgiveness, and joy. This joy is a direct manifestation of the revelation of Divine love, and there is no greater example of this love than the power of sincere repentance, which changes our personal history and enables us to embark upon a completely new beginning. Yom Kippur is about G-d believing in man, and the experience is transformative! Blessings to all for this coming year and may you be written in the Book of Life for the best year ever! Amen!
The Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur 5784 (10 Tishrei) will be observed beginning at sunset on Sunday, September 24, 2023 and ending with nightfall on Monday, September 25, 2023.

Thank you Rabbi. I was with my papa on the last Yom Kippur of his life. I know he had true repentance. His name was Marvin Levich (no middle name). He was born in Iowa City in 1925, but his parents were expelled from the shtetl of Minsk, Russia & Pinsk, Lithuania around the time of the Russian Revolution. My grandmother "Bubbelah" or "Babushka" was his mother, a teenager when she left Minsk. Shalom! from Marvin's daughter in Oregon.(He died in February. He was a WWII vet.) ✡️

I'm Jewish and I think Yom Kippur is a really necessary day. You don't eat or drink. There are no cars or phones or TV. You wear white and you're not busy all day with electronics. You go out and you don't see any cars and it's so quiet and relaxing and all the children are playing.

This is the most important and meaningful message I’ve ever heard about Yom Kippur. I so needed to hear it today, as I prepare myself for this holiest of days. I really never thought of Yom Kippur as a day of joy, but now I know this to be true. To know that Teshuva and Repentance allows me to be cleansed of my past sins, and that all of my actions have in essence brought me to this place of return to Hashem, is joyful! I always knew that Yom Kippur is when we ask for G-D’S forgiveness, and I thank you, Rabbi Richman for including “forgiving ourselves”. I very much needed to hear that! Wishing you and yours all the best for Health, Happiness and Sweetness in 5784! Gmar Chatima Tova!

This shuir proves why it is vital to learn the positive and negative commands, for if you want to do teshuvah you must learn what is and is not permitted and all the details that are an integral part of the specific commandment. To learn you also need to have a rabbi that follows Torah and can guide and teach the proper way to conduct yourself.

Could someone please explain, on what grounds G-d forgives our sins, if there is no shedding of blood? Torah says: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul" Leviticus 17:11. Atonement is in the blood. Please comment
