Paralyzed at 15,000 Feet and Clinging to Life on Mont Blanc

Ойын-сауық

On July 21st, 2020, in the Alps, near the summit of Mont Blanc, a howling wind blasted against Dan Acquah's face. Propped against a snowbank at 15,000 feet above sea level, his head slumped forward, his breathing labored. He drifted in and out of consciousness, shards of ice encrusting his ski mask. He could barely make out the ridge leading down to the valley floor, a path he should have been descending hours ago.
Dan had been stranded in the snow for over five hours. The storm he'd hoped to avoid had engulfed him, and its fury intensified. The wind was relentless, reaching speeds of 50 to 60 miles per hour. Thankfully, he wasn't alone. His friend, Matt, yelled through the blizzard, assuring him that help was on the way. But with the weather worsening, rescue seemed impossible.
Matt urged Dan to try and move, to see if he could even stand. But Dan couldn't even wiggle a toe. Panic seized him. He couldn't move his legs, and the thought of praying never even entered his mind. All he wanted was to say goodbye to his wife.
Outside of his perilous job as a firefighter, 54-year-old Dan, a Londoner, found immense joy in conquering mountains. However, on this expedition, both Dan and his friend Matt found themselves trapped near the summit of Western Europe's highest peak. While both were in danger, one was more mobile than the other. A critical decision loomed, one that would severely test their friendship.
Matt was told he had to leave Dan behind. The helicopters couldn't fly due to the harsh conditions. Matt was to be rescued, while Dan would be left on the mountain in a makeshift shelter.
Witness the power of friendship and the will to survive in this emotional and inspiring documentary.

The plot and the sequence of events presented is excellent. You arrange the events into a clear story, with excellent diction and tempo, maintaining and building tension, highlighting the drama. Now ... cut it with the flowery adjectives. E.g. "the morning sun painted the sky" (which colors?) "the azure sky" (yes, it's blue) "a wave of relief" (just simple relief) "a terrifying second" (I would guess, falling into a crevasse). I don't know how I might try to write it, but it sounds Somerset Maugham flowery. The point I'm trying to make is that Hemingway wrote very economically insofar as emotions and adjectives, describing "the shark bit the tail" and not "the vicious shark savagely tore into the vulnerable tail of the lifeless grey marine osteichthye". A literary blog would probably tear me apart, but I think the rule of thumb for word usage is: "Is that word necessary?" Glaring examples of redundancy are "the wet rain" "the parched desert" "the tall mountain" "the delighted man danced for joy". Your story line, selection of moments and sequence, are all really good! Your voice modulation and diction are the best! I think you use scenery as a foil to the impending drama! It's just slightly painfully uncomfortable in a temporarily distracting way of manner to sniff the fragrance of flowers strewn randomly along the path of the hike (they don't grow in snow). I hate Maugham, and Hemingway's philosophy, but Hemingway wrote well. So did Faulkner.
