I'm astonished how many times rescue was abandoned, giving people up for dead, as they're out there, fighting to survive. We cannot give up on the missing.

You have to balance the chance they are still alive with the risk of sending people out to look for a missing person. Depending on terrain and conditions it may not be prudent to send people out and/or continue a search. The last thing SAR wants to do is create more casualties to tend to.

@@OscarMoreno-cg1og I am a park ranger and first responder and help people out of similar predicaments. I live to help people, and for my family. At the end of the day I want to go home. I can tell you searchers will risk their lives to help others, but the brass in charge have to make difficult decisions on every search whether it’s minor or major.☺️. The incident commander is the one who decides when to halt or stop an operation, (along with law enforcement and governmental agencies, etc) not the searchers themselves.
Human resilience is absolutely amazing
Great stories on the edge of my seat❤
Thank you for sharing this amazing ordeal of these 4 men who miraculously made it out alive!
Wow wonderful story. The human spirit is amazing.
It is amazing what a body can endure
Can't imagine how cold it must've been for them

I spent a night beside a bonfire doing the "turn and burn", the side to the fire is over hot, and the side away is freezing. It was a nasty night of discomfort, and only got down to 1 or 2 degrees below freezing, I can't imagine how much worse it was for these men.
Such an incredible story. God is good 😊

Hearing row boat I always envision canoe.
I wouldn’t last 15 minutes out there.

Sure you would, you just don't know what you're capable of till you have no choice.
Why didn’t these people fly on a commercial craft, like normal people??!

I’m sure there were plenty of commercial airlines in Alaska in 1943, genius….
