I remember exactly where I was when I heard them the first time. It was in a record store in Eskilstuna, Sweden. I was 15 years old and waiting for my parents, browsing albums aimlessly. The guy behind the counter asked if I was looking for anything special, I answered I didn't really know. He asked what I liked and I answered Metallica. -Have a listen to this one, he said and gave me a pair of headphones. Embers fire started playing and I was in a new world, I had never heard anything like it. My dad walked in the store and said it was time to go. He encouraged me to buy the album but for some reason I didn't. On the way home all I could think about was how much I wanted to hear that again. I bought the album a day or two later i think and I've been lost since then in underground metal. I can still remember the smell of the record store even.

I keep telling myself the same. Truth is he was absolutely tone deaf back then, but eventually got better.

Paradise Lost are one of the last real Pop/Rock, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Death Metal, Doom Metal, Goth Metal (as you will) in the UK. This song is so under rated as to are Paradise Lost. One of the best lyrics I feel every written "I can see no reason in taking your own life when any moment death calls". I've been that low, and can relate to the lyrics in this masterpeice after constantly being bought down - (as I guess many other people reading this have) . I have now found a "True Belief". If people cant except me for who I am then its their problem. Can't wait for them to be playing the Sugarmill in Hanley in Feb 2022.

Still listening to Paradise lost 90s albums in 2020. When corona is killing people. Im forty now, started listening metal in 1991.

Blew my teenage mind. As a kid, I loved Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, Ac/DC and Black Sabbath: within a week I met Paradise Lost, Entombed, Pantera and Slayer. I don't think I've quite recovered yet

Music of my youth. 42 soon and this band never gets old. Gotta admit that having them rehearse in studios where I used to work 'wore thin' in the late 90's during the Host writing, rehearsing and recording sessions 😂 (the floor vibrated and Nick was out of tune 😅). Funny times though 😉

Pierwszy raz usłyszałem dźwięki Embers Fire w RMF w audycji Piotra Metza "Ostro", to był szok ale po pierwszych taktach wiedziałem, że to Paradise Lost. Pamiętam wycieczkę do Katowic, na Osiedle Paderewskiego do sklepu gdzie nabyłem kasetę za 54000 zł (mam ją do dziś).

Right around this time, Icon and Draconian Times (I love these records), I remember they were certainly poised to really break...and right then they made a drastic change in their sound with One Second-not a bad album at all, but too sudden a change I think...Not gonna lie, they kinda lost me after that one....until they got heavy again...Just my opinion..

Back in the golden years, Icon my Fav. Paradise Lost album. Powerful master piece, when MTV was MTV nowadays is lost.

First heard this on Noisy Mothers, a British show back when I was about 16. Something about this song immediately grabbed my attention and made me an instant fan.

I love the song too - it inspires for life. And St. George's day is sacred to me too. I spent only 10 years on the Island but I don't think being English is divine in any way. It feels actually so sad when you know you'll be buried on some island apart from the others. I'm just trying to be sincere not mean. I left it a month ago.

Mythical song! Still remember i heard it first time during summer camp as a kid on a bad quality cassette... the feeling blew me away anyway. The song has something very spiritual, that i think makes it completely irrelevant for contemporary social-net ears.

I was 13 years old, at that time I first saw the video clip of "as i die" in 1992 on MTV, it just amazed me and I could see it in a loop for hours, there was an amazing period of metal music, the highlight for me, I saw them in a show In Israel on Icon's tour in 1994, since then, not a day goes by without me listening to them, the band I love the most in the world, love all their different albums and styles, I grew up with them and they have been with me for over 30 years, today I am 43 and still a metalhead 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
