PARADE OF MOW EQUIPMENT AND TRAINS ON THE UNION PACIFIC CLINTON SUB! A DAYS ACTION WITH DRONE VIEWS!

06/16/2024 Montour, Ia. At this time the tie gang was still yet to make it to Montour. The closest town to tie down the equipment was Tama which was roughly an 8 mile trip for the tie gang. I had a lot of train traffic that Sunday too with most of it after the tie gang was done for the day.

The parade of M.O.W. equipment was quite interesting. It's hard for me to imagine dreaming up equipment that could do the jobs they are designed to do. I guess that's why mechanical engineers need to go to 4 years of college to understand all of that. The intermodal that followed was long with lots of power. Good catches, Red! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤

Hello Red, the UP freight trains and the little dogs that cheekily bark at your dogs are great. The track construction vehicles and the drone footage were fantastically filmed. It was a pleasure to watch your video.👍👍👍👍❤❤ I wish you a nice Sunday, stay healthy and best wishes. Wolfgang

16 June 2024 was a very busy Sunday on the Union Pacific's Clinton Subdivision through Montour, Iowa, Red! All the trains had to use track #1past Montour, Iowa during the time that the Tie Gang was wording on track#2 about four miles west of Montour, Iowa. Once the Tie Gang's equipment made its way to Tama, Iowa after a day's work, the dispatcher was able to move trains on track #2. I was surprised that the first train that used track #2 after it was available for use was a loaded coal train. I would have thought that the first train to run on track #2 would have been a lighter train. The dispatcher must have felt confident that the Tie Gang did their job well enough to send a loaded coal train as the first train on track #2. The drone footage was excellent as usual, Red! Thank you for uploading this video for us to enjoy! (29 June 2024 at 0021 CDT)

You're welcome Thomas! Yes usually after track work they have slow orders until they feel there has been enough compaction. They calculate it by tonnage and then increase speeds after so many tons have gone over the work area.

I can answer this. The dispatcher usually runs a heavier train train over the tracks after the tie gang unless instructed differently by the tie gang boss. They are looking to settle the track as quickly as possible so they can fun full speed after the heavier train. Usually the heavier train will run restricted speed until over that section of track. Usually another machine is included as part of the tie gang that shakes the track to settle the track so trains can immediately travel at full speed, after the tie gang and surfacing gang go in the clear. I didn't see one of those machines as part of this tie gang.

Morning Red, That was a fantastic start of this video, a nice and long priority train. Had some decent power on her with two mid DPU's. Nice little horn salute on the westbound coal train with 3 DUPs with a total of 6 engines! I'm going to assume that was a loaded coal train?? Nevertheless it was a long one. Not many flat spots in those coal cars, maybe one or 2. Hahaha the good ol' Johnny on the spot, well a couple of them. Not to many places along the line with spots to take a dump in lol. Not a bad job, just stand there with a stop sign. I'd say making decent money doing so. Don't think they are complaining. Some of that MOW equipment had some loud horns. Some more nice power up front on that westbound stack UP after the MOW parade went by. That looked like a really short loaded coal train (1st one). Great video as always buddy, fantastic drone footage as usual. Cheers from Southern Ontario 🇨🇦
