One of the best movies I've ever seen. You don't need a green screen and a lot of cgi effects to make a good movie. This movie is living proof of that. And what makes a good movie even better, its music. This is legendary.

Beautiful waltz

The whole movie with it's music is a masterpiece.

The most beautiful movie and the most beautiful music in cinema's history in my opinion....steve mcqueen and dustin hoffman two among the best actors....👍....

I remember watching this with my dad back in the 70s. One of my favorite movies. Also read the book. The music conveys sadness, hope, and grit all at once!

Music is hauntingly beautiful

I remember seeing this movie together with a friend of mine on my way home, probably in 1973. The movie theatre was located nearby his home, of which movie showcased was being advertised on a blown out painting of this LP cover picture hung outside above the front enterance door. The painting of Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen 's faces took a large presence from the main street as drawing attention from passerbyers. I visited his house several times more after watching the movie together that evening. When I went back to Korea after staying ten years in 1987, I made an attempt to meet him without knowing his telephone number and details of getting to his house, all in hopes of seeing him again. I took a bus retracing my memories of catching the buses to his home in old days. Surprisingly, I mamaged to get to his house without getting lost. Knocking on the door of his old house for the first time after ten years was a heart throbbing experience; however, it was no avail: a man came at the door told me that his family moved out of the house without leaving any information. On the way back to the bus stop walking, thinking to myself that nothing stays the same even for ten years, I looked toward the place where the movie theatre was across the street at the bus stop, but it was gone too.

Certainly, This great music jabs one's mind with past memories of feeling desolate, especially the ones I had when I was in teen not quite knowing what life entails. I don't think that I would get tired of listening to the music, especially when I am feeling desolate again; I think that I've had enough surprises in my life, but who knows.

Jerry Goldsmith was an amazing composer. RIP

Probably 2 of the greatest perfomances in the history of movies, McQueen and Hoffman. And i believe neither of them got an Oscar for this movie. Terrible.

Some of the compositions I hear, seems like they were created in heaven. After all these years it seems I've just heard this song for the first time, simply a beautiful job by Jerry Goldsmith.

I see bits and pieces of my life in Papillon, the only movie I watched more than 20 times and every time I shed a tear...a movie that stays with me life time...

A beautiful lyric that makes you feel low but so happy and you can love the freedom you've never captured.

"He's not dead as long as we remember him" And boy......Jerry Goldsmith left us a massive and rich legacy to remember him by. He was one gifted composer and I am happy to have grown up under the influence of his music 😀

For the one thumb down. I was hired at a job in Maui it was perfect. I quit my job as did my wife sold our house and moved out to. Maui A week later he sold the company after reassuring me I was OK He fired me the next day I lost everything house jobs wife left me. I go on

An inspiring story and movie which kept me alive and resilient for over a decade filled with many failed attempts to tide over and come out of my failing business. I’m still playing this music (Paul Mauriat’s version). I watched the movie when I was in college. I was really touched by the story that whenever I play the music I still feel like crying.

Papillon made it to freedom. We never did.

Ich war selber in häfm von 2003/2006.27.12 Fur mich war es nicht so schlimm. Zum schluss hatte ich sogar Fernseher mit integriertem DvD player. Aber Das Gefängnis ist Gefängnis. Auf dem spazierhof die asche sammler. Unsicherheit. Erniedrigung. ... Ohne einen Freund kommt man nich durch. Das gluck hatte ich und lernte OKAN kennen. Der wegen Totschlag 16 Monaten bekam. Ich kriege Tränen wenn das Soundtrack von Papi spielt. Träume waren mein Schatz. Keine konnte sie von mir wegnehmen. Anfangs wollte ich nur schlafm. Wir sagen in hafm KADER heißt Schicksal. Ob ich schuldig bin?Wir sind alle schuldig. Tolle film den ich immer wieder mal anschaue. Ein man der hinter Gittern nich aushalten kann. Ein Mann hinter seinem Traum.

I saw this movie with my uncle in1973,Steve McQueen did push up in solitary cell and his teeth falling,no sun only meal He was getting a small watery soup but He was doing push-ups for future freedom,since I saw this movie,I’v been doing push up everyday for life now I’m 61 years old, Papillon is best inspired movie. Great movie!
