There’s a reason Boo Sheets are necessary for the dragons when doing a perfect run: their bite attacks are unguardable (and they can’t be superguarded either for that matter), just like Vivian and Marylin’s magic attacks (fire and thunder respectively). And while the Shadow Queen’s mini-fists that drag you down in the shadows can’t be superguarded either, they generally CAN be guarded.

"You had a pretty rough time of it, didn't you?" Luigi, how do you think that? Do I look hurt? At all?

This is the only game where I've gotten to the final boss and couldn't beat it... no matter how many times I tried lmao as a kid I just couldn't understand what I was missing. Crazy watching someone do it with zero damage

She was tough in the only 4 bosses to ever successfully kill me. Huff n puff Kent c koopa Bowser And shadow queen. Funny I can beat grodus and bowser/Kammy back to back first try but these 4 got me.

Same here I got to shadow queen where no matter what I did she would beat me. Ended up having to go back to rogueport for some life shrooms just to finally beat her

Went back and played this game about a year ago and Shadow Queen is still no joke, barely died in the rest of the game but she took me at least 3 or 4 attempts

I love how the game never bothers to explain how the hell Koops’ dad survived in Hooktail’s belly for 10 years without food or water. Even if he was able to pilfer off of Hooktail’s meals, he’s incredibly sane for someone with a decade of solitary confinement.

How did we go from unique interesting bosses in this game to a bunch of generic bosses (same Mario characters and office supplies) in ss cs and tok.

That's probably my only gripe the newer series! We loved the originality of the first 2 and kept asking for that same quality/originality. Yet the devs ignored us everytime. Don't get me wrong the new games ha e they're charms but the OG 2 had the heart and souls of a straight up great game.

@@jennamiller6522 I grew up with Thousand Year Old Door and Super Paper Mario, and going from those with their wonderful stories and character designs to the newer games is such a punch to the gut..

Man, i'm impressed with how easy you made all these bosses look and i especially love the strategies you used to beat each one! (The Shadow Queen especially...i had the hardest time with that boss...)

The macho Grubba theme is so good.

1:39:06 you have to admit it... see all this, listen to the music, see the prayers and encouragement of everyone on the trip you have made... I didn't even believe all that!! Even you felt that it is everyone's courage to save that world!! I really love this great game so much, for me this is a real Final Boss.

It's great to see ttyd again, since it's quite the classic! But that's just what I personally believe.

I'm surprised that you beaten all the bosses without getting damaged *and* without boosting up your base HP.

Well, Super Guard is disgustingly broken when it comes to negating damage and dealing minor damage. It's not too surprising once you get the rhythm for it

Alright, your second statement isn't a suprise as without taking damage, they wouldn't have to upgrade their base HP at all.

take into account that they use Boo Sheets and various badges to increase damage. some attacks can’t be superguarded, such as each of the dragons bite attack and Shadow Queen’s health draining attack so the use of those items really helped the no damage portion of the video

let's be real, here: strategies and planning out fights in TYD went way over our little-kid brains. All i knew was to stomp and hammer the crap out of everything

Dude even if you did take damage, you still make all these bosses look like absolute chumps👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻 1:12:20 so that’s what you’ve been upgrading the whole time, I was wondering since your health and FP never changed

I've probably said this before but oh well. I love the design of the Shadow Queen and I'm glad she's back. Shadow Queen, Smithy and Wart are some of the Mario bosses I wish came back in a future game that wasn't a remake or rerelease.

A No Damage run without the Danger Mario build? Amazing! I especially loved when you used the Power Star and buffed your defense high enough that you can just use a regular guard instead of a super guard to shrug off all incoming damage. I also like how you went the extra mile by not exploiting Hooktail’s weakness to cricket noises. And were any guards or superguards tech-assisted? Some of the attacks look particularly difficult to superguard against, after all.

That’s actually because of a localisation change. In the original Japanese version, Vivian is confirmed to be trans, and the lines about Beldam calling her ugly are instead misgendering her.

If it was your first playthrough, you could chalk it up to you being rather inexperienced during the Hooktail boss fight, as she’s fought pretty early in the game. Additionally, you had limited options in that fight, such as partners, items, star powers, badges, etc. By the time you enter the Palace of Shadows, you’ve got a plethora of options to choose from when building Mario and his party, as well as the experience you’ve gained dealing with the nuances of each boss throughout the game. Not to mention, by the time you’ve reached the late game, you have at least a good idea as to what items and work best for you, what badges synergize the best with your play style, what tactics work best against each enemy, and so on and so forth.

@@smugsuphia7846 The only reason I had problems with that fight was because I didn't know that noise badge would effect it and I thought I missed another badge. Every other boss fight is easy if you played an RPG but that one was different enough to confuse me

I personally have 3 options of how I would do it on theme: 1- Theme on the different musical genres in their respective golden ages such as jazz, pop, classic rock and roll, among many other possible options (something similar to what trolls 2 tried to do, but better), a theme easily adaptable to the mario universe 2- Theme about mythology from different parts of the world (something similar to Odyssey, but much more fantasy), besides it is not the first time that the Mario universe touches this theme 2.1- An alternative version of the idea 2, would be making references to classic books from different parts of the world, something like I tried the Sonic storybook saga somehow 3- Theme about a land where desserts are everywhere, I know this sounds generic, but it would not be unreasonable that this theme could be easily adapted in the world of mario, and knowing the capacity and potential that people have to create a good story of mario... But this is just my humble opinion 🤔😅

Is anyone here a KZread animator, or at the very least, knows one? I have two visions 1. If you can operate Paper Mario Sprites (e.g., through modding), I hope you would be interested in filmmaking an alternative to the Grodus and Bowser conflict in the Palace of Shadow. Grodus _defeats_ Mario and his partner, but Bowser, of course, crashes onto him, followed by Kammy. Difference is Lord Crump appears after them, to tell Grodus the koopas are trying to reawaken the Shadow Queen for _their_ use of her. Therefore, Grodus and Crump take on Bowser and Kammy (same way the battles are designed in the game). An additional preference is Bowser wins so that he and Kammy can visit the lair and Kammy can use her wand to open the tomb. Imagine the Shadow Queen zapping Bowser into a shell when he commands her...and Kammy befriending her fellow witch. 2. Or if you'd prefer to stick with the whole Mario-defeating-Grodus-and-Shadow-Queen (the original concept in the game), here's an interesting idea. Mario and all his partners all together (including Frankley and Peach) revisit the Palace of Shadow to celebrate the Shadow Queen's defeat. First, it's a pool party at the Riddle Tower, and later, it's a tea party in the queen's crypt. If anyone is interested in making either vision, or can give me the name of a talented KZreadr, please let me know.

Was there a backstory bout Bonetail ?

I think blooper is the most in the right to attack mario
