Panna cotta is an elegant Italian custard that's silky smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth creamy. The macerated strawberries are just the cherry on top! It's a combination that can't be beaten for an easy yet luxurious dessert - right at home.
If you haven’t had panna cotta before though, it’s a classic Italian dessert that cooks cream, gelatin, and sugars together, then chills overnight. This combination gives the custard a slightly firm, yet delicate and creamy texture with a hint of sweet vanilla. And while it may be classified as a decadent dessert, I'm here to show you that making panna cotta is really quite simple! Plus, there's just something about mini desserts that brings me joy.

00:00 Intro
00:30 Panna cotta ingredients. Use gelatin, not collagen!
01:30 Bring the cream, milk, and honey to a simmer.
02:26 Add the vanilla, salt, and bloomed gelatin. Whisk until the gelatin is fully dissolved.
03:22 The different types of ramekins you can use.
04:10 Pour the cream mixture into the ramekins and chill.
05:08 Slice the strawberries and macerate with maple syrup.
05:56 Remove the panna cotta from the fridge and invert onto a plate.
06:58 Top with the macerated strawberries.
07:53 Taste test

Panna cotta, flan, creme brûlée, cheesecake, anything with banana, coconut, etc.
Our favorite is made with buttermilk and topped with a topping of orange zest, honey and strawberries. Definitely giving this one a try.

I am Obsessed with you Best Banana Bread recipe. Last Spring 2023 I made it 4 times in one month! (I use Chia Seeds instead of Eggs, still delicious!)

What I found helpful for taking food out of ramekins is that you need to put the plate on top of the ramekin and then flip it upside down so that the plate is sitting now and the ramekin is on top. Then you just need to tap it slowly on the top so that you make sure everything is out.

Thank you for sharing this panna cotta recipe. It reminds me the puertorrican dessert called tembleque (coconut pudding) which is made with coconut milk. I'll try your panna cotta recipe. 😊

Hi! Looking forward to making this. Simply elegant! Question; one the title of the recipe it says Greek pan a cotta, but you’re talking more about an Italian one. I cannot find the Greek one. Is there? Maybe the swap for honey instead of sugar makes it Greek? ❤❤❤❤

Could you add some fruit juice to it before it sets so it’s pink or peach colored?

This dessert looks absolutely delicious! Definitely a favorite around here! Would clear jello work as the gelatin? I can't use beef ingredients dairy recipes due to kosher requirements.

Panna cotta has a great shelf life in the fridge. Cover each bowl tightly (to prevent drying out) and store in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.

You can definitely add the macerated strawberries to any of the non-dairy versions I have on my website as well. :)

Could you use all cream if you want to be naughty? I think that’s how the Italians make it. Would this change the quantities of gelatin required?
