Some neo-cons and NADO-cons have only *one* matrix for analyzing a foreign policy crisis involving another power, and that matrix is "Mûnchen 1938". They always pull that line. It's very convenient for American elites of course because the US wasn't even involved at Munich, and also never had to face a military attack or offensive on their own heartland soil during WW2 (Hawaiii was more or less a colony at the tme, much like Puerto Rico still is but a lot more important), but it's sad to see how diligently Macron picks up this well-used "Never again Munich" trope. :(

No. No US instructions. The French are duplicitous. They left NATO once, in the '60s, when there existed just a possibility of USSR, if not winning a conflict then at least standing up to NATO. France wanted to "cover all bases" as it were. The old, "I'll keep one foot in and one foot out" strategy. Only AFTER the utter collapse of USSR "threat" did France come back into the Alliance with the old, "hey, guys so glad to be back"! We should not have allowed them back in..... History is a teacher here. France ALWAYS played "footsies" with the Ottomans at the cost of other Christian realms. They'll do it again. Just wait until the non-european portion of population takes control of major cities....Par-istan for one

80% of all German military casualties were done at the hands of the Soviets. That means all of the fighting from the USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada *combined* equals only 20% of the fighting and casualties inflicted on Germany. Not insignificant but it's laughable how the west has convinced millions of people that they won the war and don't give barley any credit to the Soviets.

The Free French built-up to an army of about 10 divisions that fought the Nazis in Italy, France and Germany from 1943-1945. Some ill-equipped French troops were also in the Tunisia campaign and fought else-where in North Africa and in Syria vs. the Axis and Vichy French.. The French Army was re-equipped with all American equipment, (and some captured German gear) in 1942-45.

I studied abroad in St.Petersburg in 1997, when Yeltsin was still in office. Russia will never forget WW II, especially in St.Petersburg. The memorial for the siege dead was unbelievable. I counted over 40 burial mounds that had just a large tombstone that only showed the year those poor souls perished. Also on the southern outskirts of the city and in the suburbs you can make out what looks like strafing marks on building wall.

Zelensky will officially not remain as the president of Ukraine after 21st May 2024. So after that date, even if he ask for any military intervention of NATO, should it be legally considered??? I have doubt.

even if you take the view that war with Putin is inevitable, starting it prematurely and going on the offensive in Ukraine is the worst idea NATO could come up with in response. Russia is highly fortified and consolidated in Ukraine. If you went on the offensive there, the NATO casualties would be the highest that they could possibly be in any imaginable confrontation with Russia

I doubt he has any concerns about WW2 French defeat etc. Ancient History is just History, France is on fire, Paris is a war zone many roads are blocked by Farmers and truckers, they have not let up. There is a major Islamic uprising in the country and a bloody counter movement, basically a civil war. Their civic buildings in Paris are relentlessly being sprayed with liquid cow shit AKA Slurry, fires everywhere too. Ukraine is a smoke screen for his disastrous domestic failures, its become his escape from reality. France is finished.

But oddly enough they end up winning in the end. Like in 1914 and in 1940 Germany invaded and it did not work out for them in the end.
