Panelists:
Sheema Kermani is a dancer, choreographer and activist based in Karachi whose work combines the classical and the modern. She is the only dance Guru in Pakistan to teach and perform Bharatanatyam and Odissi.
Babar Sheikh is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker, academic, musician, and audiovisual installation artist. Working comprehensively for the development of film education in the country, he is based in Karachi and has directed several ad films, documentaries, and short films for the Pakistani, regional, and international markets. thriller Carma.
Nageen Shaikh is a Fulbright scholar, art historian, critic, and industrial designer. Her research and pedagogy prioritize questions of production in South Asian art, contemporary artists’ studios, and influences of material complexes on artmaking in the early modern period.
Sophia-Layla Afsar is a lawyer turned therapist, multidisciplinary artist, and guest lecturer. Their formal qualifications include a Diploma in Clinical Supervision (CICS UK, 2023), Advanced Diploma in Counselling (CPPD), Mediation Accreditation (ADR ODR Int'l), and LLB (LSE UK).
Zehra Hamdani Mirza is a Karachi-based artist and writer. Her career has spanned art, journalism, strategic communications, and television. She served as Chair of the first Karachi Biennale (KB17) Marketing and Design committee and was the Editor of the Second Karachi Biennale (KB19) catalogue.
