This is balls. Hoyle is not there to ensure the prime minister tells the truth: that just isn't his job. He has in the past urged Johnson to actually address the questions, but his powers are extremely limited and are in large part reserved for and confined to keeping order. He's not a judge. Total ignorance of Parliamentary procedure - arcane though it might be - runs right through the criticism of the present Speaker by people who seem to think they could do a better job: and perhaps they could - but not in a Parliamentary chamber bound by procedures which they don't begin to understand.

They acted like animals in the house, I really don't know how you handle them, but you do it with reverence and chivalry, becoming your title and before. I watched a very good play of the week 'our day out' by willy Russell I think, and though the children were cheeky and mischeivous, i have to say they appear to have better manners. I wonder are you able to attribute further tools for your position, to wrangle the 'right honourables'. The speaker is such a weak ineffectual waste of space. And just imagine the contempt that Boris Johnson has for him.

This is a fascinating spectacle as viewed in 2024, and will continue to mature until at least 2039. To be enjoyed like a Penderyn whisky, as referenced by the disgraced former Prime Minister, Boris ‘Let the bodies pile high’ Johnson.

Just wow. My work place isn't like this. From what I've heard Shinzo Abe wasn't a very nice person. Infact I believe he was a war crime denier like the people Johnson decried in his very next sentence. Nice to see Starmer talking about something important rather than just sleaze. I'm hoping someday I will hear him talking about Labour policy proposals.

The speaker Lindsay Hoyle is terrible. He clearly does not have any sway amongst the MPs and has the air of a supply teacher losing control of the class. Half the problems with behaviour are down to him and his total lack of command. Dreadful.

For someone who has quit looks very comfortable still. Didn't answer the questions put to him and just danced around like a puppet. Where is this money coming from? 650,000 on payroll more than ever but there's still millions unemployed and more businesses firing and closing down than hiring and opening up. 0.5% growth in May today's is only just 0.2% get your facts straight BJ. Nobody in that party wants to be near him and yet 8 want his job so we'll have some infighting as usual. The Conservative Party needs to look at the back benchers for a better leader than those on the front bench.
