Great information! Just a tip - some of us are older and hearing is an issue. When you add music to your dialogue it can be difficult to understand you. It's not a hearing issue as much as distinguishing words. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!!

Definitely a worthwhile update for the m43 lineup. As a former OM-1 user and still current E-M1.2 user THIS is the camera I wanted the OM-1 to be AND MORE. The Leica monochrome is just a nice little topping.

Funny you should say that. Sold my OM-1 just this morning. For now it's back to the E-M1.2 (and the realialbe GH6 that's gonna stay), but I'm eagerly waiting for the G9II. As a video-first guy the OM-1's video features were just too weak for me. So the G9II seems like the much better "primary photo, but also video, really" cam... If the AF really works that well, it will probably even replace the GH6 as my main go-to....

Finally phase detect AF! Nice camera Panasonic. Great video Connor!

The old G9 was either or as it relates to PAL/ NTSC. Is that still the case? I know it's not really relevant anymore in terms of video broadcasting, but using 30/60 frame rates can clash with certain lighting situations here in Europe. That's why I chose the GH5 over the G9 several years ago. Does it have the syncroscan function? That helps when using 30/60 here to reduce the flickering effect that I can get when using those frame rates. Most of the time, I just use 25 or 50 to save the trouble. But, we'll be Stateside later in the year, and it's cheaper there than it is here in Stockholm! Would be very helpful if you could check the menus for that. Best regards from the hinterlands!!

This is a great camera, HIGHLY video oriented. Basically, feature-wise,it's basically an S5ii in MFT, with better stabilization and faster pdaf.

Hello, thanks for the channel. When I shoot in Leica monochrome mode and download the photos to the computer, the photos come out in color. A little strange, right?

Sounds like you set it to the monochrome profile, but you are still shooting raw photos. Set it to jpeg if you want that B&W profile to show up in post.

Thanks. I'm in the process of ordering a G9 II to supplement my "I" and although it's not perfect (e.g., why not include the 5.76MP EVF?!) and no camera is a true game-changer, it will enable me to get some shots that would be problematic with other cameras (including the "I"). Great to see Lumix pushing MFT--just as is the case with so many aspects of our lives, bigger if often not better (99+% of the people driving gas hogs like pickups and SUVs have no moral justification for causing that much environmental damage). My MFT kit covers EFLs from 12mm to 800mm (1,600 if I replace my Leica 100-400 with the new one and get the 2X TC) and fits in a small sling pack that weighs about 11lb/5 kg, Try that with "FF"--my big LowePro AW 450 couldn't fit the glass needed to cover that range. It makes no sense that MFT doesn't have the lion's share of the market but I'm glad enough people appreciate it to keep it going and the G9 II should help win more converts. Although I shoot RAW+JPG and only process the RAWs, I do use L Monochrome D sometimes and I'm looking forward to seeing what the Leica mode produces. That would be great if you'd do a comparison, as I'm not sure I want to pop for an M11 Monocrom (and of course, glass worthy of that camera is a lot more). As it's a non-Bayer system (which effectively boosts its already crazy-high res), maybe using high-res mode for at least some shots with the G9 II and/or using the lower-res modes on the M11 would make for a slightly fairer fight.

Yes. Compare a Leica Monochrome against the G9 ii in Leica Monochrome at 100MP. That would be an interesting video and has never been done. Good review. Subscribed!

L.Mono has been my favorite monochrome profile of any system but I'm not sure that's the same thing as the Leica Monochrome profile on this thing. Would like to know what the L stands for though.

Hope Panasonic sells a ton if them. Hiwever, lots of competition in that price range.

M43 for the win. Keep an FF camera with some fast primes around for extra low light and let M43 do the bulk of the work - it's an amazing system.

Now, with the PDAF I really don't see any other FF-advantage than Low Light (yeah, I know DOF, bla bla, but honestly, the difference is not that great)... Low Light is amazing on Full Frames, but those damn huge lenses (and the prices...) Plus: I extensively tried the S5II for a month now. Great camera, great low light performance, great AF... but what nobody mentions - Don't start to compare the IBIS to the GH6... A completely different level. And the g9II is supposedly even better in that regard...

I can only talk from my experience of a full month using both cams side by side. But I only had the 50mm 1.8 for the S5II, so there's that. @@Wildridefilms

This is how I work already, use my G9 Mark 1 for the bulk of work as it's so light and reliable and pull out my A7R 3A + A7S 3 for shallow dop / low light, really professional jobs.

The deal breaker for me with the Panasonic G9 is that you weren't able to focus stack using flash, did they fix this fatal flaw for macro photographers?

Tbh I'm not quite sure, I am much more video focused than photography focused, but hopefully you can find out the answer.

Can't you just go into the menu and just try the focus stacking with a flash and see if it work? It's really just that simple. @@connormccaskill

It seems to be fixed. There was some talking about this on the live show on the Lumix USA channel yesterday. It looks like they even slow down, if the flash can't keep up. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6JlztproLG1gJc.html

Exactly what I need to know, question do you know the maximum flash sync speed when using flash focusing bracketing on the G9II, my OLYMPUS OM-D E-M1 Mark II only flash focusing bracketing at 1/50? Thanks in advance. @@Ulrich.Bierwisch

They have their similarities, but the G9II is definitely more tuned for photography vs the GH6. Also the G9II has Phase Detect AF which is better compared to the contrast based AF in the GH6

Since companies knew that the photography making is dying and many beginners/children/parents/amateurs do a lot of videos with cellphones. They are now making for mimic slrs into video cameras to record less than 31 minutes.
