The only instrument, orchestra, where the musicians dance and smile, and laugh while playing.... This is a joyous thing. Can't imagine a piannist, celloist, or violinist having this much fun..

Tears welled up in my eyes and mu throat tightened as I saw / heard this group of young Finns playing the steelband... Wow! how the world has changed! I was one of the first 'female' pan players in the Virgin Islands when I was in high school in 1969. It's wonderful to see a distant country espousing our culture and enjoying it so much! You had me doing the 'jump up! Thank you so much... We are one world, one human soiciety...

Nicely done. Over the last 2 weeks I've been listening to pan music. Facebook placed "Rainorama" another Lord Kitchener song in my feed. Never played with a steel band but the drummers I watched playing in St. Lucia, preteens, did. In this piece my focus was the bass drum of the drummer and it was the pattern I heard so often played. That is what makes the music so danceable. Kudos to the drummer. Lol, kudos to the pan-men-and-women too.

Steel Drums are one of the youngest instruments out there and their influence is spreading all over the world. What started with one person and a cannon ball on a beach is turning into a worldwide sensation. I played my first steel drum, a lead pan, in Alaska years ago and have been hooked on the groovin feel of soca ever since. Respect to you guys. Pan in A Minor isn't an easy piece but you guys pulled it off!

In retrospect, I think the arranger was actually trying to pay tribute to Jit by referencing his arrangement during the intro and early part of the tune. If you notice, as the piece proceeds, the arrangement steps right away from Jit's arrangement. In any case, it's a spirited performance and the band can be proud of their execution.

curtiss744, You must never say that you are a born Trinidadian...ever again. You can say you visited Trinidad, but born there???? You must be jokin" boy. Maybe yuh born in Finidad. Every woman, man, LGBT, and or child that was born in Trinidad or elsewhere, would say to you "You don't know FUCK ALL about Pan" To quote Koby Sadmar.. yuh mus be dotish, (that means an exceptionally stupid person like you), since you cyar be from Trinidad If you think that was perfect, you better pull your head out of the asshole you born from. To take Pan in A Minor, and change it to Pan in A Major Mess, is what the arranger did to that tune. How alyuh could rip off Jit Samaroo so? If he was still alive, that would have killed him for sure. Great to see a group of young people playing the Steel Pans, but to fuckup a tune to that extent, is beyond imagination. You must be one of the players in that band, right?? How de fuck you could say dat was perfect? It have Stupid, but you take the cake !!!

curtiss744 I have seen many people of different cultures try to play this Instrument using this classic Lord kitchener tune arrange by Dr Jit Samaroo and no one has that feel like a Trini, the steel pan belongs to the land of Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹 and nobody can steel that feel that you hear when a real Trini is playing so I'm very disappointed that you would be impress with this buffoonery this none-sense these fools are doing would not survive for a second in Panorama and they know it...

We take part in Trinidad's panorama yearly, and from my experience, this arrangement is in it's own class. You play sweet (dancing while you play, and hardly make mistakes). It's one the best arrangements, (I love the classical part). Keep it up, and I dig the "carrot-top playing the seconds in the blue tees! Keep it up, and rock the world with this one!

Really? My prof told the class that so you can see why I would believe him. It was when they were still a british colony and their many forms of celebration became outlawed. I was talking about the evolution of the pan instruments themselves, not the evolution of soca and calypso as a whole, which did start with tamboo-bamboo bands. There are people out there that know WAY more than I on the subject so thanks for letting me know.
