Just think, Anakin destroyed the Jedi order, betrayed the closest person he had to a brother, And became severely burned unable to live without prosthetics and life support, All for Padme, But she still dies even after Palpatine promised she could be saved. Now he's trapped, Alone, His life is gone, And everyone he knows is either dead or in hiding because of him.

That is not the full story, the Clone Wars was so fantastic as it actually went deeper into Anakin's fall, he had a Padawan named Ahsoka, and at the beggining, he was this determined, cunning and compassionate warrior, he was what we know the Skywalkers to be, he cared deeply for life and those close to him, and was a greater Jedi than any, slowly imploding as the War span out of control. The Jedi order was arrogant, and in desperate need of change, but they refused to evolve their order, so they imploded from within, this led to Ahsoka being obviously set up by someone and arrested, Plo Koon, Obi Wan, Yoda all knew that there was more, but they didn't do anything because they were afraid (ironic considering they were so outspoken against fear, believing it always leads to darkness, a fatal error in the order), and she was expelled from the order, Anakin was helpless, knowing and stating that it was unfair, that it was all just face with no body so to speak, and she was turned over for trial, until Anakin found out who set her up and turned that individual over for trial. The order apologised (apart from Mace with his "This was actually your great trial", narcissistic way to excuse yourself from responsibility), she then left the order, leaving Anakin behind, until just before Grievous' assault on Coruscant, where they last spoke. This explains further how the order was broken and couldn't see it, and how Anakin became so disillusioned with the order, combining this with Palpatine's manipulation of Anakin, even making him believe that Padme died because of him, when actually it did not appear to be a direct result of Anakin's lash out at her, but that's another topic. Simply, there was a lot more to this than simply him being too attached to Padme and Sheev manipulating him to oblivion, and I could go into the psychology of Anakin and how all this transpired within him, however, that would take another lengthy paragraph, but his loss of his Padawan because of the order's arrogance, his close friend Obi-wan condemning him to his broken-self, and Sheev using his love for Padme as a way to seduce him to being a sith, using the force for nothing good, killing the order that were too traditional to evolve, and allowing himself to be desecrated by Palpatine until he saves Luke and forgives himself for what he did. This is why Star Wars seems too real for a sci-fi adventure universe, emotionally, it is so raw and authentic, and Anakin's story is one of self-realisation, and self-sabotage, and something we can all relate to on some level.

Everything you said adds absolutely nothing to anakin's character that wasn't already there in the films. You fans keep trying to make that 2008 more important than it actually is. It's a horrible show that adds nothing to anakin. The only thing you get is that horrible Ashoka character. Anakin is Great character without that show. Honestly that show messes up his character. I like the conflicted character in the films way more. No one can do anakin as great as Hayden Christensen.

I had seen the Originals first, when I was a kid in the 90', the original cuts, I had to admit that I never made the connection that Palpatine was the emperor back then, because their personalities were polar opposites, I really trough that Palpatine was honest and wanted to help the Republic, but well, that teach me a lesson, a truly dangerous demagogue is the one that you think that is really helping you when in reality is working to screw you over.

I was 6 years old when Episode 1 came out, but I already knew the Emperor's name because I had the Visual Dictionary for the original trilogy and he was named Emperor Palpatine there. So when in Episode 1 the Naboo pilot said to Anakin: "Look, Senator Palpatine is waiting for us", I was like "OHMYGOD, it's the Emperor!" :D Although, they had me a little confused because in my language Palpatine and Sidious was voiced by two different actors. Now I know it was because they wanted to keep in secret that Sidious and Palpatine are the same guy. Back then, I thought he was using a voice changer thing to cover his identity.

I´m surprised how popular is Star Wars only for it´s mixture of fantasy and science-fiction, and how little is known about it´s politics and the real engine of all this whole universe among people. Someday, this will be remembered as one of the best and deepest stories of all modern age.

It's interesting how (in the canon) the events between episodes 1 and 3 showed how Palpatine got rid of his competition one by one, obviously those being the Jedi, particularly the council, Talzin, Ventress and the Nightsisters, Dooku, Grievous and the Separatists, Savage Opress and the Shadow Collective, etc. The only ones who he deemed the biggest threats after episode 3 were Maul, Yoda and Kenobi, but then the rebellion arose. The beginning of the end for the empire

Damn 14:50 onward brought tears in my eyes, really nice way of ending this story and video! I also think it is interesting that Anakin kills Dooku (unarmed prisoner) and later when Windu is going to do the same thing (kill unarmed prisoner) Anakin tells him "he must live". Really shows that he is conflicted and can't quite grasp the things that are happening around him. I also find it very interesting that Anakins story is a self fulfilling prophecy, in trying everything he can to avoid his wife dying he sets in motion actions that will cause her to die. He even ends up choking her in a fit of rage, something that shows just how far gone Anakin is.

Also Anikan despised Windu, his only true friend was Palpatine, so when Palpatine tells him to kill Dooku (a well known war criminal and sith lord) of course he does it, but when Windu says Palpatine must die of course he sides with Palpatine.

As it was written in the novel, the Sith evolved during the 1000 years after their defeat from the army of Light, but the Jedi remained the same... The galaxy changed, evolved, the Republic changed, the Sith changed along with them. But the Jeri didn't change at all! They remained the same, expecting to fight an opponent from the past. They were blind to the degradation of the Republic, the big decline of the society in general. They became servants of the Senate, forgetting that they were serving the Force above all. The moment the Jedi order lost its focus from serving the Force and its will, to being the servants of a corrupt political system, their fate was sealed. .

The Revenge of the Sith novelization is a masterpiece. As is the Star Wars saga in general, but yeah. I particularly enjoyed the part of the novel where this is described, and the juxtaposition between the Anakin vs. Obi-Wan and Yoda vs. Sidious duels and what they represented -- the first representing the breakdown of Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship, the second being all about the bigger picture and less about the individual combatants involved. There's just SO MUCH material and references to other EU material -- Legends canon, of course, but all the same, it really is a masterpiece. And Jim Luceno is just a damned good writer in general. We knew, of course, that it would end with Palpatine killing his master, but it was the where and the when that was the real surprise. I also liked that Palpatine didn't have to be seduced to the dark side. He was already there, just waiting for the right one to come along and teach the secrets of his power. Top-notch writing all around.

Sidious killed Plaguies after becoming chancellor, not senator. Darth Plaguies was alive during most of The Phantom Menace, though he never appeared on screen. Darth Maul had been in training under Sidious at this point for some years now - though it was technically a violation of the Rule of Two, Plaguies was aware of Maul and approved of it, as Maul was trained to be a Sith assasin, not a full fledged Sith Lord. And while being a junior senator from a relatively backward world had given Sidious time enough to train Maul, he simply couldn't do that as chancellor - hence the turning of Dooku, already a Jedi Master.

It's too easy to fall to the dark side, this is what JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson have missed. I noticed it in TFA when Rey able to use the Jedi mind trick without training and now thinking about it, how was she able to defeat Kilo Ren? Kilo Ren has enough Force capabilities to stop a blaster bolt.

Good because he chose love? More like he could not face losing her that becomes border line obsession pushing Anakin not just to betray the Jedi but to murder children. Something his wife would have left him and never approved of. If he truly loved her he would never have done anything to give her a reason so clear that she would have not just left him but try to keep her children away from a child murderer. Yea lets get that clear. Anakin was unable to handle love to a point that losing it drove him to a level of evil that no one as pure hearted as Padme would ever have wanted anything to do with. Anakin thought only of himself not her. He went from Jedi husband to psycho Sith killer. Then so drunk on power he attacked his wife just because he THOUGHT she had betrayed him and speaking of that I would like to give a nice Fuck You to Obi Wan who stood there with his hands on his hip like some douche super hero and let Anakin force choke her and did nothing to stop it but try to order Anakin to stop. Obi wan understood how far he had gone off the deep end after seeing him kill kids yet he did not spring at Anakin light saber drawn and try to save her. What a dick.

Small correction: Maul was an assassin, not an apprentice. He was never intended to be. Plageous knew about Maul and allowed Sidious to train him. Also Plageous was killed after phantom menace. Inconsequential nerd stuff, but I just wanted to mention it.

when i see videos like this it makes me really think about the drive darksiders have for domination. it seems wasteful overall especially when it always brings you in conflict with the jedi. hypotethically if i was in palpatines shoes or someone similar with his Force potential i think id choose more gray jedi way, living hedonistic lifestyle as star wars galaxy offers so much and if you have the Force your possibilies there are nearly limitless. i liked Jolee Bindo from Kotor because he chose his own path, followed his own beliefs.

It's not domination, it's the ambition and passion for revenge. To wait and be calm, cool and collected for a thousand years so you can be slowly forgotten and let your enemies grow complacent, idle, lazy and headonisgic to the point of self destruction. That perfect opportunity to strike at everything at once and bring it all down. That's the kind of focus that the jedi never had and that's the reason they fell. The sith used the prosperity, peace and comfort they provided to eliminate them.

Ironic....sidious' paranoia led to his doom but not before the jedi order is destroyed

I burst out laughing at you when you went "You know how we know Anakin still had good in him? Because he chose love. He chose love in that split second. Maybe it wasn't the right decision in the long run..." Dude, you literally learned nothing from the story of Anakin, and you probably don't realize how disgusting and pathetic Anakin was objectively. He's a BITCH, he's WEAK.
