    You can probably sell your carving, etsy or ebay. Never heard of palm tools, but after you explained, makes a lot of sense.

    Hey, quick question. I want to buy a v-palm chisel but I was wondering which angle I should get. Flexcut has 70 and 45 degree? which one do you recommend. I am gonna use it for beards and hair for now

    Great video! I've actually been looking into them for a while and ended with flexcuts 5 piece interchangeable blades, was thinking to trying to make handles for the other blades since it only comes with 1 handle🤔🤷‍♂️ I did try Ramelson and were dull but I'm sure if you know how you can sharpen, I didn't know at the time😖😅

    I've been curious about he interchangeable blade version, how do you like em? do the blades move around at all while using them? The Ramelsons are ok, not my favorite but I would rather spend a little more for the Pfeil version as they come honed up nicer.

    @@CarvingisFun So far they fit very snug, they even little difficult to remove😅 I'm guessing in time they'll loosen but they are cut amazing. Ive even tried without the handle on basswood and seem very durable👍I can't compare to the handled versions since never tried it but was worried too if they not as good quality as the handled versions but so far so good😁

    I made some out of some Purpleheart cabinet knobs, I made them interchangeable and they have worked fine so far. I made them interchangeable, because I might want to break them down into a travel kit. They sit fine, I had one that was a bit wobbly, but for my small stuff it's fine, I do hold the wood in my palm, but tend to have my hands on the metal to guide. It's pretty straight forward, the bases are about 10mm wide I drill a 3/8ths inch hole and 'chisel back' the sides to fit. Then wood glue 3/8ths in dowel that I split and sand back. Makes for a tight fit and removable blade. I put it up on Instructables search Flexcut Palm should get you there. if not reply to this and I'll post a link.

    @@whitelfner4582 Oh nice the dowel good idea I used a bolt actually, made from Ash. The bolt secures it very tightly with a countersink hole, just not pleasant to look at lol. But maybe I'll see how I can use a dowel and clamp it tight🤔 Thanks🤗

    Hi, I am new to carving and I am wanting to buy some palm chisels, Many people on youtube are really pushing Flexcut. I own their detail knife, their skew detail knife and a micro "V" tool. I am not sure I want to spend $100.00 for 4 flexcut palm tools I might not like. I like the feel of the small handle but not the flexing of the metal shaft when I apply pressure on the tool . I have been considering buying the Beavercraft Palm chisel set on Amazon because they look much more sturdy (Shaft wont bend). I am just a bit nervous about the purchase as the blade looks thin where it enters the handle. I am also not sure if they will hold up to harder woods like Cherry, Maple and Walnut with out breaking. They look good and the price is right at $70.00 on amazon. I am a Disabled Vet on disability so price can be an issue. I am also considering buying their C17P Universal pro detail knife. Have you ever used this knife. Any way. can you help me make up my mind. I want to buy these tools but I am just a bit on the fence and need a little guidance. I would love to see more of your videos where you use the Beavercraft palm chisel set. Thank you for your help.

    I've been playing around with the beavercraft set for a little while now and I find it to be quite nice! it is a bit thicker than the flexcut version but has no flex to it. As to using it on harder woods, it should hold up but I can't give you long term experience on how much abuse it can take. The C17P is an interesting tool, very unconventional and I can see it as a supplemental tool. It sits in my hand well enough for detail work, but for removing large sections of wood I would hold off on it.

    They do help with reach, and since the flexcut versions are thinner than your regular chisels, they may work better.

    For small faces do you recommend getting the flexcut palm tools set mini or micro?

  • @CarvingisFun

    @CarvingisFun

    If you are doing small faces the size of a few fingers wide or smaller the micro may be beneficial for detail work. They give the sizes of each tool on their website and I would check to seenif they are the right size you are looking to get.

    @@CarvingisFun thanks for the response. I know that there are different sizes but I find it hard to visualise what size I need, as I never used such small tools. There are two variants: micro and mini. I think for faces the size you are saying the micro might be better for eyes and ears since they are smaller(1-2.5mm) while mini is bigger(2-3mm). Do you have experience with similar sized palm tools?
