Palestinian Manaeesh Recipe - From Gaza Kitchen Cookbook

Today, we are doing something different and making a Manaeesh recipe from Palestine. Specifically, we are using the recipe from the Gaza Kitchen Cookbook. You can buy the book here: justworldbooks.com/books/the-...
You can also find the author, Laila El-Haddad, on Instagram at "gazamom".
I also want to share a link to the gorgeous Angaar Tandoor which you can buy here: angaartandoor.com/en-us/produ...
The video is longer than ususal because we had some special guests and you essentially get two recipes in one. If you like the recipe, please support the author and buy her book!

Laila is a friend on my FB page and an amazing cook. I make dua for her and for all Palestinians currently suffering. Two other recipes you MUST try are Makloubeh (the Palestinian style, I think this is in that book that I also have) and mansaf. But as an Afghan you may really like the Makloubeh. I am learning Afghan cooking from YOU! So the Afghan refugees can enjoy meals at my home (we even built a tandoor in the backyard for them)...

Also, thank you. I don't know if I said that before but I want to thank you and everyone else who helps us keep our culture alive.

@@AfghanCooks losing one's root culture is a real threat when you migrate to a totally different world such as Afghanistan to USA... the newer generation may frown upon their parent's ways and not even wish to speak Dari or Pashto at home, and many lose connection to the roots and the way their grandparents did things. I am always encouraging new arrivals to be proud of their heritage (the kids especially) and to cherish family traditions. I'm going to send you an email if its on your about page. if not, my email is on mine if you're interested in bonding.

OKAY.. I want that sweatshirt, #1, and #2 do I want that tandoor? The oven we built is hip-high and of clay. I got complaints from one of the Afghan women we help that it isnt big enough for Afghan naan, but if I built an in-ground tandoor, I'd fall in and cook myself !!! hmmmm do I need more kitchen gadgets?

I haven't used this for Afghan naan yet. I make mine in the oven lol. But, to make pita bread this is a no-brainer. It is an incredible machine.

@@AfghanCooks I havent tried to make pita yet, even after decades of preparing Arab meals :) I am sitting here munching on Afghan Bolani freshly made for me by a new arrived friend ... took her daughter out for her birthday (13 years old) and mom had this waiting when we got home. omg is it good. Do you have a video on Bolani? I want to make this at home.... the potato mixture is easy, it's the dough that intimidates me

Miryam meaning in Hebrew and Aramaic means Mir or Mr bitter and yam means Sea. So your name is Bitter Sea. تریخ سمندر in Pashto

I have a question my beloved afghan "aunt"/"sister" in afghan we say and that is the truth than qabili palaw is a dish from our uzbek friends. But why is the word translated in Kabuli Palaw in english. It has nothing to do with Kabul.
